• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Brake Caliper Kit

Hi everyone,

Tried to install the Brake Caliper Kit sold by Can-Am on the Calipers followed all directions and they just won't stick for any length of time, we find them falling off or peeling off. Is there anything we can use to make them stay on--maybe stronger double stick adhesive tape or ... ?

Did anyone else have this issue or come up with a solution ?

Appreciate the help !

Don't have them myself but I read here that you should heat up the glue with a hair dyer to activate it. Obviously make sure to clean the surface well.

Did you thoroughly clean the calipers with brake parts cleaner before installing? That is best followed by a second cleaning with alcohol, but that is just a precaution that I like to take for all tape installations. Use of 3M "Promoter" is an even better preparation. Anyway, if you did not clean the calipers well enough up front, you have likely contaminated the tape now, and will need to heat it and remove it, then replace with some fresh 3M tape. Not sure the 3M tape will hold with the heat, though...I'm open to better suggestions.

Solution

Clean the calipers up thoroughly withthe above mentioned brake cleaner stuff and alcohol, but don't use your single malt scotch. Then, remove the tape and apply Gorilla Glue to one and hold it on for a minute or so. Then walk to the other side and repeat. You'll have to use a bulldozer to pry them off.

:ohyea:Remove the wheels and use brake caliper paint. They will look great and easy to do. Looks better than the stick on ones.

I've had mine on for 2 years and over 33,000 miles. I cleaned the caliper thoroughly with alcohol (thats all), stuck them on and let sit overnight before riding it. I have been through rain storms, heat, cold and a lot of washes with no issues.
