Seth, with the mods you have, can someone check your 0-60 time? I'm more curious about that ...I tried to check via your video but don't have a stopwatch handy...

Thanks...

 By my rough estimate, it looks like 0 - 60 times are right around 4 seconds. Love the video camera setup you had on this. It's nice to be able to hear the engine without having the sound totally blown away by wind noise once you get moving. Also, I like the wide angle lens that allows us to see the speedo and the tach.

I don't know jack about drag racing, but I couldn't help but notice the tach. Is it normal to shift so close to the redline?

In the first run, did you make it to 5th gear? I hear a little change in pitch in first gear near the upper end, but it doesn't look like your thumb moved.

Yeah--- what's up with the last run? Can't see that that truck should have been able to take the Spyder.

Little surprised the times aren't a little closer to 13.0, but I don't know what mods you have....

Gotta go try this myself sometime!

His youtube description says he ran out of gas on the last run.

Awesome runs!! Did you get a different tire?

I love this camera view, too, where we can see your speedo and tach.

I may have to try the drag strip. The instructors at the track days (road course) I've been going to keep putting slow guys in front of me and I rarely get to push it as fast as I want to. I think this is an awesome machine with incredible potential.

here is the side view, I was never in 5th, you redline at 114 in 4th gear so I have not hit that yet on the 1/4.

I have the 60'' times and all the crap they give you on the slips, I have pics of the slips from the first time will get some pics of my best time crap, NO I do not have a tire, can say enough about how the kumdo is holding up, 5kish and 2 days on the quarter mile of the hATe.

I have/had see the broken yosh bike thread, TB juicebox, eviozone full race air system, I maxed the suspension on both front and back (on a side note the spyder handles like a bat out of hell like this on the street) I took everything off the spyder I could and hence why I ran out of gas, used 1.5 gallons in 18.5 miles, tons of starting and stopping along with running it hard. I do need a real slick and you can tell with the side view.

You think your spyder is faster off the line on the street but with the hand brake, being handicrapped and have the SE5 it slows me down compared to being human so yeah, I welcome anyone in the area to run against me I would like to see how it would do against another setup.

You should not be hitting redline in any gear. Power drops off after around 7500RPM. That is where you should be shifting to the next gear!

:agree: If I'm shifting at or near redline, the rpm drop into the next gear is still going to be well ABOVE the peak torque curve..... Shifting at 7500-8000 would keep the rpm's right where all the power is being made.......

I am willing to try anything but on your graph the power peaks at 9 not at 7500. But I will try it next time, the 5th of august is the next time I am going. My spyder does seem to pull all the way to redline but like I said I will try it.

That's quite a change...in fact, that's a huge change. I have the green filter, hindle, and the JB...I can see a huge difference but I haven't timed it. With the other changes Seth has, I'd assume he's cutting around .2 seconds more than my 'basic' setup....

Thanks for posting!!

so what's the next go fast mod??
a slick would make things interesting....
but what about a nitrous kit???

Ok I will admit I am a bit of an instigator!!!

Mod Spyder

Thanks for the awesome BRI post. I have a Spyder that you might be interested in checking your setup against. I have all that you listed plus a nice 'little' high compression piston upgrade from Ken at Eveluzione. Its tuff to put into words how this 'little' addition changes the Spyder.:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D I live in the west metro area and would be interested in meeting at BRI if there are more dates coming up to run on the track. Or maybe we could hookup for a ride somewhere in between our home bases?

The next BIR drag night is Wednesday august 5th at 5pm till about 8pm, 25bucks to race and 5 to watch, beat me and I will pay for your entry best 2 out of 3. otherwise I have been down there about 3 times on the spyder this year (about 230 miles from dirt town to air assault paintball in maple plain west of the cities where I help my old team) anytime you want to meet up 218-556-3994. One of my brothers live 10 miles north of BIR, place to crash if ya want, I live 98 miles north of BIR.

I have a gas line presure mod I have not put in yet, and the quarter is the slowest place I ride.I would welcome anyone to follow me around for a week, crash at my place and see how their spyder holds up to what I do with mine, just have to get new front tires put on this week.

I accept your challenge, see you August 5th....727 410-1832.

Just woundering did you lower your rear tire air pressure for the runs? Also with the spyder loosing traction so easy Have you considered adding weight over the rear tire? And just for the heck of it try shifting at 6,500 or 7,000 rpm.
I had a friend of mine years ago that I swear had a dyno built in his pants. I had a BSA at the time and a bunch of us used to drag race. This one guy used to beat me all the time. Then this friend of mine road his bike and then mine. He said that my bike was a lot faster. Then this friend of mine raced him ( the guy I could never beat) with my bike and beat the other guy really really bad. I said what did you do. He said I just shifted when the power started falling off. I said at what RPM are you shifting at. He said I don't know I never looked at the tack. Well run him again and let me know the RPM you shift at. I said I shift at 9,000 to 9,500 Rpm it's still pulling hard at that rpm. Well he came back and said Race him and this time shift at 6,500 rpm. So I did and guess what I beat the hell out of that guy I could never beat before. Huh I said it still pulls hard at 9,000 rpm But not as hard as it does at 6,500. And that looks like where your torque peaks by the dyno chart. Give it a try.

And in another post you are surprised that you are blowing up your mufflers? :dontknow: To me, the implication is that you are pushing your Spyder past the normal limits regularly.
