BR1 IS IN TROUBLE

I would suggest an email to "[email protected] and ask for assistance and a follow up from Emilie whom is with the Consumer Services Group. I think she will be extremely helpful for you.
For what it is worth, I contacted BRP because I was so frustrated reading this thread. Everyone of us that own a Spyder should be concerned about what is happening to George. We could be in his shoes!

Greetings Mr. Olson,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. At customer service, we can only attempt to address problems we know about. This situation is unacceptable. We will contact Mr. Lewis shortly.

Have a great day!

Why is this happening and why can't something be done about it?

Per Georges post at 8:10 AM Yesterday he has not heard anything from anyone at BRP. Tho, he did say he has made calls in the past that went no where.

Chapter 10 of As the Spyder Turns. Ms. LaChance (BRP) called me Aug. 23 and left a message on my answering machine. I was out of town and my daughter listened to the message and said "a lady called about your Spyder." Naturally, I thought it was my dealer, a lady named Kelley Henan....it was Ms. La Chance. I called Kelley and she said parts were still on order and they were checking often on my parts as well as other Spyders in their shop. She did not say she did not call me.

This morning I received a very nice email from Ms. LaChance wondering why I had not returned her phone call...a honest mixup on my part as my daughter did not know La Chance was not from South Texas Suzuki. Ms. LaChance said she is working on getting the parts and was sorry for the delay.

I returned her email and thanked her for her efforts.

These are the total facts known to me at this time. BR1 still sits in the shop awaiting parts....and that is the bottom line "because Stone Cold Steve Austin said so!"

If there is more to the saga of BR1, I would love to know it. Punkin' said "let him sit in the shop until next week as you and I have to go to the Triple C Steak House in Devine, TX. Saturday with the gang! Punkin' is really getting a kick out of this and enjoying his #1 status again....he is becoming a bad boy.

Stuff happens.

Sounds like a pretty honest report on what happened and now we know who to thank for doing his best to help a fellow Spyder rider out. Admirable for sure, Rando.

Sorry to hear you're - still - waiting on parts George.

I was going todo the same but figure they would tell me to bugger off. Great work.

Thank you for taking a pro-active step in helping George and BR-1. Hope this goes a long way towards getting his problem solved.

It is sad to see this problem happening and hopefully there will be a good solution soon.

all i can say runaround ,over and over, pat pupcan mr gold wing and tell him i think he soould be no i,your luckey to have a stand up bike ,take good care of him.:chat:

Happy Birthday BIG RED 1, Glad to hear BRP did try to contact you on the 23rd:thumbup:

Hope they get her back up and running soon.

Guess I will add my 2 cents. Today they took my RT 2011 Limited for it's fourth (4th) throttle body which this lasted about 1000 miles, the last one only went 6 miles so were moving up. It did allow me to escort a KIA home before it broke so I think someone said "you will escort this young man home before I break your bike again" and that's ok by me because it was a successful mission. HE gave it all and I can wait a week or two for repairs however it is hard to just overlook it.

Sorry you guys are having such bad luck. For what it's worth, I've not had a single mechanical problem with my RT - probably because I've found a decent dealer. My buddy in Boise actually has more miles on his RT, and hasn't had a mechanical problem either - that's at least two of us….

Shhhhhhhhh :lecturef_smilie:

I thought I would check in with my dealer, South Texas Suzuki, this morning, and see how things were going. The owner said BR1 would be ready for pick up in one hour. That is good news. I told her I would be there Tuesday (They are closed on Mondays) and get BR1. Can not go tomorrow due to my group ride and the Labor Day Parade in Bandara, TX. Punkin' loves that parade and I ride him in it every year.

Later this morning, I got a very nice email from BRP (Ms. LaChance) saying BR1 is fixed, test ridden and should be fine and to keep in touch with them on "how it goes".

Comment: I had called BRP customer service twice in the last three weeks. Two different customer service folks showed no interest whatsoever in helping us get BR1 back on the road....they were zero help and seemed to "care less".

Once Ms. LaChance got involved, things started to happen and moved along rapidily. It is a shame that only one or two people at BRP seem interested enough to get involved with customer/dealer problems.

I will continue to ride BR1 but will not go where I know there is no cell service or alone, if I can help it. I have no confidence in BR1 running any length of time without a breakdown. More later in Chapter 11 of As the Spyder Turns.

:spyder2:

That's because you don't speak French (why anyone ever would is beyond me…). I'm sure the other folks would have hopped to, if only you could speak French… :D

Help line ?

George, I had pretty much the same experience the one time I called customer service. They could offer me no help, but did refer me to SpyderLovers so I could seek a fix for my problem. When I asked if they recommended, warranted, or stood behind any of the products they were pointing me toward. The answer was no.

Big help! Not.:banghead:

great news

glad to hear your BR1 is repaired i hope all is fixed properly now i hope mine gets repaired soon i called Kelly today she said that one of the 5 parts i have on order is on the way sigh

hope they get them down here soon

Glad to hear BR1 is ready for the road! I do know what you mean about not having confidence. I'm working my way through that, too, after my second throttle body replacement. It just takes some time and patience. Any bike can leave you stranded any time and any place. BMW's have some chronic problems and when we were off road this summer in CO I silently prayed for a safe return ... especially with my wife on board. But we tackled the dirt roads anyway, aware of the risk. We need to do the same thing with our Spyders until we again have confidence and can enjoy some of the best riding available. Good luck, George!

My only comment is I have had two Gold Wings and 125,000 miles on them with no breakdowns or shop visits other than normal maintenance. Sure, Wings break down, but not close to the ratio of Spyders...I also know many of you have many uninterruped miles on your machines and that Wings have been on the road 25 years and Spyders are still in the "growing stage"....which means little to me when I am sitting at the side of Hwy 170, 30 miles west of Terlingua, TX in 110 degree WX and I am down to my last two quarts of Wild Turkey.

If your's runs, I am happy. If mine doen't run, I am not happy.

Good luck. Keep us advised of how it goes. How long has your Spyder been down? Send me an email for some more information. [email protected] Put Spyder in the subject so I will open it.
