• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Bob D New RT

I've got to admit that I was taken aback by the O.P.'s post...
There's an old saying that I hold pretty dear:
"If you want to start a fight; insult a man's wife, or call his dog ugly."
Everybody is entitled to an opinion..
Mine is that it'll be my bike to do with what I want... Subject to what the Missus allows...
And I'll make no apologies for the mess that it becomes!

I sure am glad that I contacted the 12,000 members of spyderlovers to get approval before I put the stripes on mine. :spyder:

Ex,
I also had my 'Wing sort of take on a life all it's own...
I couldn't use 5th gear because it wouldn't spin the charging system fast enough to keep up with the drain from my lights!
THAT was the one that wished The Missus up!
But in Lake George; it was only one of about ten thousand nice-looking 'Wings...

you need a KEYBOARD for farkle #1 Bob, or folks will begin to wonder, what happened to old Bob? Just sayin...

The real shame is a story about a husband and wife some time ago. They purchased an RT and loved it. But they rode with a Harley crowd. How much of an actual beating they took from the group is probably a very subjective issue. But bottom line, they sold their beloved Spyder and purchased a Harley Trike to get out from under the 'Heat'.

Personally, I just think you have to have more confidence in yourself and your ride than that.

My first 1500 mile road trip was with a guy on a Harley. I think his feelings were hurt because everytime we stopped I became a rockstar and nobody even noticed him. :ohyea:

Asking Bob not to farkle is like asking him to only post 2,000 times a year. :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: It just ain't gonna happen.:clap:

That being said, I agree the OP was rather presumptuous.

That's pretty sad. I got a lot of flack when I first got my RT. Now a lot of people ask me to carry things for them on long rides.

A very wise man on this board told me once, "follow your own star". I like that quote.

On a side note, Bob Denman, I promised ConnieMac that I wouldn't mess with farkles on the Wing either. Needless to say, my purchases have helped WingStuff and Powerlet meet their Q3 sales goals!!!!

So, Bob, Follow your own star!

Spyderfuzz:

Did you intend to go fishing when you opened that can of worms?? :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Bob:

Use that extra credit card that the Missus knows nothing about and have a blast. :ohyea::ohyea::ohyea:

My wife and I have separate checking accounts. Plus, I have a BillMe Later account which is totally paperless. Soooo, when I want to purchase a farkle and pay for it on the qt, I use PayPal and BillMe Later.

I've been looking for a 'Bill Me Never' account. Nothing yet.... :dontknow:

Looks Great

Bob, I think your bike looks really cool. It fits you, even though I have not met you. I would not do the wrap, because I am just not capable, enjoy personalizing your new ride.

I believe you have to do "something" to "make it your own". What that means is an individual decision and as long as you're happy with the results, that's all that matters. The saying: "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" comes to mind. Part of what makes this country great is our ability to express ourselves through our art, our clothing, tatoos, our writing, and yes, our vehicles. I personally would NEVER put a bumper sticker on one of our cars, but if you want to....go for it!

Sure glad I'm free to be ME

Wow :yikes: why would I need another's opinion to create my personal ryde? I always ask for opinions, but if I don't incorporate yours don't be offended... When I was at Oyster Run a group of Harley Dudes asked with just a little bit of sarcasm why my Spyder was so tricked out....my answer with a big grin and respectfully said:

CAUSE I GET MORE ATTENTION THAN YOU DO... Yep I'm free to be me in life style and ryde. And I choose to respect you and yours just the same.

PLEASE don't spoil it with all those decals at first. Enjoy the colors and comments you will get before you do.
I asked the question on this FORUM last year when I first got my Spyder -- Why do people rush out to MOD their Spyder as soon as they get one? I got a lot of replies back then.

Some MODS are functional, i.e. lights, GPS, etc.

Some are appearance, i.e. decals.

To be honest, the decals detract from the appearance, in my humble opinion, but obviously they enjoy wide popularity. And it must detract from resale value I would guess unless you are lucky enough to find a potential buyer with the same tastes in decals.

On the other hand, it is your Spyder. Do with it what you want.

Nice thing about the decals is mostly they are easily removed, it would be boring if everyone had a black bike with no options, we always knew where Dave was with his blue Spyder, but now until he Farkles the new one he can sneak up on us. :chat:
