Bluetooth and Nolan N-Com system... questions

I found out tonight that my head got fatter and I need a new helmet. I'm looking at the Nolan line with the N-Com Bluetooth system. It looks like if two helmets have the Bluetooth modules then they can communicate with each other. My question is if each helmet has the Bluetooth unit and I get the Bluetooth module for my Spyder then can we hear the radio through the Bluetooth system in the helmets?? I have never messed with this Bluetooth stuff but it looks like it would function normally but without wires.

Even though the Bluetooth world follows a standard, there exists enough channels in the available bandwidth that some manufacturers can put thir devices to function only along a certain group. The best way to find out about compatibilty is to send mail or call the applicable companies. Nolan may be a little hard to get the answers from as they are in Italy. Sena has a good technical line and the persons there will do their best to help you.

Food for thought and something to keep in mind: I don't know of to many people who have been successful at getting two different brands of Bluetooth helmets to connect and play nice with each other.
If you go Nolan you stay with Nolan's bluetooth equipment for all your gear.......personally, we chose and use sena and have absolutely no complaints.

Nolan an has a rep in Illinios, I know because I had their N Com for one day and had to send it in for repairs. One of two would not charge. Also one of the charge cords would not work. They fixed the Com, but blamed me for the cord, which is bogus since I literally had it one day and it would not work.

If I didn't already have their helmets I would return the piece of crap Bluetooth equipment they sell. :banghead: I really thought I was buying some high quality equipment, but the headset parts where the charge cable connects is made in China and very cheap and hard to connect.

Nolan in Illinois is at 630 701 1601

I would love love to know if another brand will fit a nolan N104 helmet? :dontknow:
.

I have the Sena units for our helmets (SMH10) they came paired and were easy to install in our helmets and easy to use. We stream music to our units from our smart phones, which works well. Sometimes we ride on the same bike or we could ride separate. The intercom function works great for bike to bike or on the same bike. Sena has hookups available if you like to use different helmets depending on weather. In short I would go with all Sena but the Nolan units could work. Ask Sena first.

I had J&M stuff on my Goldwing and it worked ok but I was never really impressed with it. I really like the idea of this Bluetooth stuff being wireless. I did order the Nolan helmet last night and the matching headset for it but not the Bluetooth unit yet. I am still gonna need the one for the bike too and between the two its gonna be about 5 bills, the bigger bills!

I have a Nolan with the N-Com. I like the helmet but the N-Com part sucks ! In the very first time I used it the mic came off badly. It is very fragile. I would not recommend it at all. I just took the entire set off and now I am using the U-Clear, without any issues. For me, the U-Clear is the best helmet set you can get. The best part is that it does not have a boom. The mic rest inside the helmet and the conversation is allowed with great quality. As far as to hear music wirelessly, it works nicely. I only feel that it lacks a little bit more power on the lower frequencies.

if your head is rounder try Nexx, they make a nice helmet, and Shubert if you can go the $ as far as Bluetooth goes the big button is so easy to use with your helmet on. the units with the tiny buttons suck, look for the longest use time if you are using it for music some of them will not last all day on a charge. the units with the most distance use the most charge. some have aux. batteries that you can change out. the more you talk the faster they run down. they should come up with a solar or wind powered charger that attaches to your helmet:joke: try before you buy and ask everyone that you know if they like what they use. some states do not allow helmet speakers. and with all the distractive laws nowadays maybe nothing but your head in your helmet is the best idea.

HBC 200D Force. I think this model is the top of the line, allowing communication over a greater distance among u-clear users. The technology is amazing and in my opinion much better than the others in the market. I am using it attached to my helmet and not in the space used by the n-com because it would not fit there.

Thank you.

I'll take your advice and order as soon as my return of the N Com is complete.

Help a New B out

If I order the Uclear system to use on my RT, do I also have to order and install the BRP Bluetooth dongle?

Regards,

Dan

If you want the factory radio to be heard in the helmet then yes, as I understand it. If you only want to talk with another helmet and or your Bluetooth phone then no.
