• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

:2thumbs:Man what a great ride ! Do your self a favor when in TN (Spyders In The Smokies ) ride the Blue Ridge Parkway, man it is the most scenic road I have ever ridden on . Take the 441 out of Gatlinburg through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to just north of Cherokee turn onto the Blue Ridge Pkwy.(gas up first!) ,then it's about 78 miles to Ashville. Man what a ride, posted speed on average is about 45 most of way. The road is full of sweepers and twisties under a canopy of trees. It was about 90 when we were there but felt cool as we were under the tree canopy and shaded most of the time. Spectacular scenery the whole trip . On the trip back we took HWY 19 into Cherokee ( huge new Casino ) and then onto HWY 28 to Deals Gap and rode the Dragon up to the Foothills PKWY onto HWY 321 to Wears Valley Road ( lots of touristy shops ) and finally back to the Condo in Pigeon Forge ,about a 10 hour day and 275 miles. Keep a full tank as gas stations are far and few between on some of these roads. Stop into the Visitors Center just before the Smokies National Park for more info and a map !

I agree - a great scenic ride --- and the scenery changes not only along the miles, but also the time of year. Fall colors are fantastic.

We first rode the Parkway when our two girls were little -- now they are both members of AARP (we had a VW MicroBus - yep -- hippy's).

Wife and I also rode the Parkway on our Honda Interstate in the mid 80's.

Driving an auto on the Parkway does not count (motorcycle forum, you know), but we've done that as well.

Favorite ride? Natchez Trace Parkway.

I'm thinking of ryding the whole Blue Ridge Parkway after SitS
Think I'll ryde up to see Thomas Jefferson's Monticello...:doorag:
I'm on vacation until 10/7, so I may as well ryde somewhere!
Drop me a note or talk to me at SitS /Lamonsters if anyone is interested in ryding a portion w/ me!
I have no major itinerary other than just doing the ryde....

I just ran all of Skyline Drive on Saturday... 105 miles at a posted 35 MPH...

I was tempted to run the blue ridge from there on south, but that is a major time investment, and after 105 miles at 35 MPH or so, I found some local roads that were fantastic instead... I may run part of the Blue Ridge after SITS - At least for part of my way home... So count me in as company!

We were out again today ( a lot of shopping and some pool time, have to keep the better half happy ) and as long as you stay off the interstate their isn't a bad road we have found yet . We set the Condo as home on the Zummo and rode for about 5 hours . It wasn't the Blue Ridge PKWY but was more then satisfying. I don't think there is a straight road to be found here . But boy it was hot . Met 2. :spyder2: ,1 red RS that we passed in Sevierville and a silver RT with trailer from Virginia . We went to the Red Roof Inn in Gatlinburg and saw a few trailers but no :spyder2: Lovers. I guess they where out ridding, imagine that . See you all soon.

A quick shopping note. If you are looking for Harley Boots or Western Boots go to the Boot Barn ,just on the right side of the road as you come into Pigeon Forge from Gatlinburg . They have thousands of boots in stock and the sale is buy one pair and get TWO PAIR FREE. Mix and match. Great sale 3 pair of boots for the price of one .

But why would you want to mix them. Where I live, if you run around with different boots on each foot, you get some strange looks:D:D:D

Had a Great Time on the Parkway last week! Spend four days in Asheville heading out North and South, making loops back into town. Those NC guys have been trying to keep Hwy 197 South out of Burnsville a secret... ITS OUT!!! (some dirt, though).

How we roll from Tampa to NC:
PS: Highly recommend the Red Roof Inn (Asheville West). It's near the Parkway, bike an pet friendly and reasonably priced!
