• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Leaving Waynesboro on 4th traveling half way traveling to Cherokee on the 5th spending day in Cherokee on 6th then traveling home on 7th and 8th giving time to take in the sites along the trip will update meeting points and mile markers

Snow last night I guess. We actually hit some slick spots coming across 441 back to Gatlinburg
That is always a possibility. I usually try to go after mid april. By then, most of the BRP will be open. You can even go up to Mt. Mitchell, but I don't think it opens until the end of April. Going in May should be good for the entire trip.
I do recall hearing of a biker loosing his life by crashing into one of the gates blocking off parts of the BRP. They also use the early spring for repairs of roads and damaged retaining walls that happen during the winter months. The good thing is that traffic will be light that time of year.

Thinking this may be a place to stay our first night they have camping ,cabins and hotel off exit 199mile marker fancy gap there are other hotels on that marker as well

I think you should be fine. I know that parts of the BRP (area around Mt. Mitchell) is closed right now due to rock slides. That is typical near the end of winter and start of spring due to freezing and thawing of water that runs down the rocks. As I said before, by the beginning of April and onward, most everything should be open. Have fun, and take lots of pictures.

You will enjoy the ride, we have rode it several times over the years ... If time permits, go to Maggie Valley, visit Wheels Thru Time Museum, well worth the time. We normally spend a week in Maggie Valley each year, doing day rides from there. I love those mountains !!!!! Great riding and great scenery !!! Enjoy !!!

You should have a wonderful time. I did hear that there was another rock slide in the area, so be aware that there may be parts of the BRP that could be closed. I will be in the area 4/25-29. Not sure what I will be taking. Either the spyder of the stang. Either way, it will be fun.
