• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Blowouts and Gators

RED RIDER

Returning home on Interstate 44 from Spyder Jam I was approaching a pickup towing a large tandem axel trailer. As I got nearer The pickup pulled into the outer lane to pass a 18 wheeler. I was getting ready to follow him when one of the tires on the trailer literally exploded and threw pieces all over. Luckily I avoided all the gators but was amazed at the force of the blowout. The trailer just had auto size tires I cant imagine what happens when a 18 wheeler
tire starts shedding road gators. Hope I never see that.

GATORS

:gaah:...2 YRS. ago ,coming home from LaMont's :bbq:, on my ( new to me ) 2011 RSS I was passing a TT unit at approx. 80 MPH ( and I was just keeping up with traffic :roflblack: ) When it blew a tire , right next to me .......sounded just like .306 going off.......Luckily for me it was an inside tire on a tandem axel ......otherwise I think I might have been KILLED :yikes::yikes::yikes:...........Getting hit by a slab of rubber that weighs maybe 35 + lbs. is generally lethal at any speed on a Motorcycle ....even a Spyder

Not pretty..!!

believe me...fortunately was not on the roadster at the time but ran over some chuncks and made the car bounce around. If you ever see a small cloud around any tire on those rigs....back off..!! :lecturef_smilie: the air pressure combined with the weight can pop a tire if the retread peels off. Poorly cured retreads or over loading them makes them liable to failure...:gaah:

I believe that we had a report in here within the last three Months, of a motorcyclist getting killed by flying debris from a blow-out... nojoke

Myth Busters did a show on this subject. The Myth (or true story) was that a motorcycle officer was killed when he was at the side of a big rig and a tire blew up. The story says the retread came off and decapitated the officer. The Myth Busters show did show that one of those can go right through a windshield and hit you with enough force to kill you. They could not prove the decapitation thing.

Needless to say, it's a serious matter!

Very serious and scary. Have seen a lot of "blowout rubber" on our main highway lately. Glad I missed the incidents.
