• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

blew a mufler gasket today

Don't expect a replacement Gasket to be available from BRP until near the end of the month. My that time it will be %$^%$:cus: freezing here in New England.

Your talking about the gaskets that seal the breaks on those vertical sections, right?

YES! The path of the exhaust goes like this:
Two headers come sout of the engine; one in the front, one in the rear. Those large headers snake beside the engine and eventually turn veritcal downward. One both the left and the right sides (About where your knees are when sitting on the stock seat) are two slip joints with gaskets. Then the pipes meet under the carriage in a larger Y pipe. Then that pipe has a slip joint gasket the goes to the 90degreee bend for the mufler.

UPDATE: I just came back from droping off my bike to my dealer to see if they can drum up something.

I believe I have seen several instances where that material used to wrap exhaust is used as a seal on older motorcycles. That stuff is expensive just to make exhaust seals.

B.R.P. supposedly released slip joint gaskets  today should finaly get to bail out :spyder:bye Saturday it has been a long 2 weeks sure glad I had another ride one that you can get parts for overnight.

UPDATE: My dealer found that a Kawasaki gasket fits it perfectly!
I'm going to pick up the Spyder tomorrow morning; I'll find out exactly what part# they used.

Great news. Once you find out the part number, I'll be asking my dealer about this. My wife says my stock muffler with the leaking gasket is as loud as the Hindle was.

I picked up my repaired Spyder today. Not only did they install 2 springs and 2 gaskets under full Warranty they also corrected the Emergency Brake mechanism under Warranty.

I wont find out the part number until I call next week as the tech was not in today.

Well I was curious after I noticed mine getting very loud over the past several thousand mile....no have 8700 miles on it. I took the right side cover off and started the spyder and almost passed out with the fumes that came out. After looking with a flashlight I noticed the gasket was blown. My dealer won't have the replacement gasket in until tuesday.

Will this cause any problems with the spyder???? I think this happened probably before going to gatlinburg which would have been before getting the 6000 mile service that it wasn't noticed by the dealer. I did mention to them about the exhaust being loud when I took it in for service. This will also explain the gas smell and also my seat getting hot!

If you can, I'm still interested in the Kawi part # since our Spyder dealer is 125 miles away but we have a Kawasaki dealer 10 miles from us and we're getting ready to put my new muffler on this week. Thanks!
