• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Blank Key

With the original coded key in my shirt pocket I did try to start the bike with newly cut key.
It wouldn't start. I assume the coded key needs to be just on top of the blank key to start the bike like a magic wand.

Did you actually get it to start by putting the coded key closer to the blank and if so how close did you have to get it? I would also be interested to know if it did start did it remain running after the coded key was removed from the proximity of the ignition?

Thanks for any info.

I got one cut at a local hardware store that had the blank but it won't start the bike even with the chipped key aginest it,,oh well,it was worth the $3.to find out that the chipped key must be in the switch to work.

My experience has been that the coded key actually had to be placed next to the key in the ignition to start. Yes, once the spyder is started, it will continue to run. I also found that you could start the spyder up again with the coded key approximately 5-7 feet away from the ignition, if done before the computer shuts down. For me, the blank key does what I intended for it to do.

coded key

Went to my local hardware store and asked for a Triumph or Volvo key. Then had a Volvo. Cut the key and it works fine to open trunk or seat. Can start and run Spyder if holding DESS key next to cut key, and it will run after starting just fine with coded key in my pocket. Cost $2. You don't need an expensive key for this.
