• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Black is a cool color ... but

I've had black cars before and they were a real PIA to keep looking decent.
Pugsly, my F3 is shares the problem.
He's black and beautiful.
When I can find the time to properly clean him.

I had a leftover can of Black Turtle Wax that seems to have solved the swirl problem.

My question for those who share this Spyder Color Choice -
Any tips as to keeping them pretty?

Ya keep a micro fiber towel and a bottle of quick detailer in the trunk, I have a black Raider even if it sits in the garage more than a day it needs to be wiped down.

I have had many black vehicle, including my Spyder RTL, Black Currant they are all the best when clean as you mentioned but they do show the dirt and dust.

with my Spyder, when I get off or shortly after I use Pledge Universal and a microfiber towel to remove the dust and bugs, then ready to go with a streak free bike for the next trip. It takes about 10 minutes to "dry clean" Johua! Easy Peasy lemon squeezy.

on another note I have a bottle of Lamonster's cleaner but have not tried it yet.

What I have done for the past couple years is use Lucas Slick Mist after every 2nd or third wash. Does not keep it any cleaner but it sure makes it shiny and seems to make it easier to clean next time. It's silicone based speed wax that is ridiculously easy to use. Use it on everything. Great on the windshield too.

After washing with just a mild car wash without wax I use the Honda Spray Cleaner and Polish using a micro fiber cloth

My first RT was black. That was the "ultimate" color choice that year. I did nothing unusual to keep it clean. That year (2010) I washed my :ani29::ani29:'s once a week.

Griots Garage Speed Shine and a micro fiber in the trunk. Have been using it for years. Nothing better. For gloss and Matt black. Have 2016 RT special series. Three different blacks. Spray on wipe off, beautiful shine.

You'll just have to suck it up. Gloss black is a PITA to keep looking good. Not ragging on you my latest toy is also gloss black. Best Black toy from a paint point of view that I ever owned was a Harley Night Rod Special with what they call Black Denim paint. Wash it with Dawn dish soap and blow dry, done. Never ever wax it.

Yep you have to suck it up!
Even though I use Lamont's detailer myself I still do a good wax every 4 months or so.
As far as waxing, it has to be clean clean clean or you will get swirl marks.

Great stuff. GREAT STUFF.
Although I generally skip the pre-wash.

Also, Original Bike Spirits, or the old reliable, Lemon Pledge.

There you have it....

choices choices....I have used an array of plactic cleaners since the day they put plastic on bikes. Plexus, Black Diamond, Protect-all, Suzuki Cleaner, Honda Cleaner, many brands I don't even remember and can honestly say...I do not see enough difference to justify the price or the hunt. Still end up using Lemon Pledge but have not stopped tring them out cause there is a new one every week....:dontknow:
