Best way to add LED's on RT Mirrors without dissassembly of mirror

:dontknow: Hello Spyderlover friends.....


I had added LED's on my 2012 RT Limited mirrors about a year ago and took the mirrors apart. Worked well, but don't want to take mirrors apart again.

So...question is who has the easy way to do this without mirror disassembly. I looked through the threads and seen many drilling a small hole in the housing to route. I think I'm willing to do that instead of taking the risk of breaking the mirror apart -- it was a little tough and I think it loosened everything up when I did it on my 2012. I didn't break any tabs, but got close a couple of times....

Please post your latest successes to this easy farkle. Thanks and .....please post pics if you have them of the install, especially exactly where to drill.:helpsmilie:

I drilled a hole in my 2010's mirrors for this.

The toughest part about leaving the mirrors together... Finding and fishing the wiring out of the housing! :gaah:
I basically fed the largest part of the wiring through the tiny hole that I drilled, and then took a piece of wire that was bent into a hook, and went fishing for it!
The first mirror took about a half-hour to "get a nibble:... The second one was much easier (LUCKIER!)

I too took my mirrors apart but later I read a trick someone did and posted about.

Using a string at the front of the mirror and a shop vac at the hole on the side of the mirror where the wires come out, turn on the vac and it will suck the string into the assembly and out the hole! Now tie the string to your LED wires and pull it through.

I have not tried this but the post I read the guy said it worked great.

:firstplace::bowdown: If you look at this picture you can see around where to aim the string inside bottom of mirror instead of the tywrap while you use suction. The vacuum/string suction method is what we used to use to start a pull of wire though a conduit run.

the triLED mirror LED's do not require that you take apart the mirror....you do have to remove the mirror, however. It was actually VERY easy and only took about 35 minutes to do both mirrors. Simply pop off the mirror...unplug it.... line up LED on top edge of the mirror. drill small hole to pull wires through. Then just hook wires up to the existing wires coming out of the mirror...plug mirror back in to harness and pop it back on. It was SUPER easy and they look FANTASTIC. :yes: PM me with any questions
