Best Wax to use on Spyder.

In a word "Zaino" is in it's own class if you want the best, all the show car guys know this.

I've used Zaino for over 9 years on my 2002 Chevy Avalanche before selling it recently with over 220,000 miles on it. Still looked new.


Use it on my 2002 Goldwing and I get lots of compliments - enough so my buddy that bought a 2011 RT Limited ordered Zaino for his bike.


Look for reviews on Zaino. I doubt you'll find a bad one. Overall, though it seems a little pricey up front, it really is used very sparingly and lasts forever so not only does it make your ride look great, it's really cheaper than auto parts store stuff.

I use Nu-Finish. It is a polymer and not really a "wax" but once a year before I put her to bed for the winter does the trick. www.nufinish.com if you want to check out some of the write-ups

I use FW1 and it is amazing. I can only find on ebay. ICE and Pledge without lemon are also pretty good.
Now...

I never had problems washing engines in cars or my bikes, however, I'm a little intimidated by the complexity of the RT and its components. I haven't had a need to wash her yet, but would like to hear from all of you. Thanks!

Believe it or not.. I use Honda polish. Gets off all the bugs, leaves a GREAT shine! And it can be used on every surface of the bike. I have always used it. It's hard to find if you don't have a Honda dealer near you however. It sprays on and just wipes off. When it rains it beads up and leaves no waterspots. No streaks and in the heat here it's hard to find something that doesn't leave a weird film on the paint job. Every Harley owner I know uses it also (after they saw me using it) and my friends in Sturgis ask to use it so they can do a quick polish before we ride everyday. You don't even need to wash the bike first. I always have a can with me.

Surprised no one has mentioned "Original Bike Spirits". I don't consider it a "wax". But for quick clean up it can't be beat. I believe it is the same formula s Honda Polish. The Honda stuff can be hard to find. Original Bike Spirts can be found in lots of places. I use Plexus on the windshield. But, still have managed to cause a rub mark. I used a little too much elbow grease. Now if I have hardened bugs on the windshield a warm towel over it for a while will soften things up first for easy removal. Learned the hard way not to rub too hard. Microfiber clothes always.

That's an interesting one...never thought of it for paint...I thought it was only for the shields...it does a great job though!! My shield looks great when I use this stuff...

Hands down the best quality wax you can use is Geoff Bodine's Waxing Frenzy...there isn't even discussion with this...just read about the stuff...used in NASCAR...the breakdown temp is like 1300 degrees vs. 135 degrees for any other wax on the market...the same product is used with boats, so you know it has to be good if it's around salt water all the time...
