• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

BEST Warranty Plus-- experience and opinions?

I didn't want to bury this question in my other thread

http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26579

In short: potential new buyer looking for the best in dealer and BRP service.

Reading up on threads here, I'm 100% convinced I would buy the full 3 year B.E.S.T. warranty right out of the gate. While many people sound like they have great experiences with their Spyders, the ones who don't REALLY don't, so I'll want all the warranty protection I can get.

That said-- anyone purchase the Plus protection? I'm definitely NOT a fan of pre-paid dealer service plans, which IME are almost always bad deals, if not outright ripoffs... but the Plus sounds like it could be a good deal. Alas, the brochure isn't too helpful about what exactly it covers, and info in threads hs been all over the map.

It sounds like the Plus protection gets you free 600 mile service, then one free annual service appointment afterwards up to 5 years (if you have the 3 year BEST warranty-- can you even buy Plus with a shorter BEST warranty?).

Three questions:
1. Does this just cover a nice-to-have annual inspection, or would this cover a regular maintenance schedule appointment if I chose to, i.e. could I get my 12,000 or 20,000 service be free?
2. If #1 is true, does it cover everything INCLUDING fluids, or are oil changes outside of the Plus program? (I figure I can change my own oil and filter, but if it's covered at least once a year, I'll happily take the vacation!)
3. Does the Plus cover the entire cost of an appointment, or does it top out at a maximum expense, i.e. after $200 or so I'd have to pay the rest of the dealer charge out of pocket?
4. How much more does it cost in addition to the cost of the regular B.E.S.T. warranty?

Anyway, just trying to see if it's a good deal or not. Thanks for any advice!

Keep it simple...get the 3 year extended BEST when you get your bike..it's cheaper that way...as I wrote in the other thread, PM me if you want a contact at Talbot's...they are, IMHO, the ONLY dealership in the area to work with...I drive 75 miles to go there when I have plenty of dealers closer...
