There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Best solution for leg heat problem on RT

Here's what I did and it solved my right foot heat problem on my 2013.

First, I bought a SpyderPops upper block-off plate. I removed the RH Deflector Panel and used a soldering iron to cut a big hole in the RH Radiator Molding. Here's a picture.

Radiator Hole.jpg

The aluminum plate covers the first hole I cut. Unfortunately, it allowed the radiator to blow hot air right back on the gas tank and I got the strong smell of gasoline every time I stopped. Covering that hole with a plate and cutting a new hole that exhausts the hot air downward has eliminated the gasoline smell when I stop.

If you don't have highway pegs, then you might want to install SpyderPops lower block-off plate and cut the same hole.

Hot cold

Its hot in Oklahoma so the fix was mandatory. I dont have hyway pegs so i just blocked the bottom hole on the right with spyderpops plate and then took off the bottom pan on the right. Warm air still come out of the top hole but not as much or as hot and it blows out above my foot and misses my leg. it is now livable and by leaving the top hole i think it will feel good it the winter because it also gets cold in Oklahoma.

Ya know, with respect to BRP, I don't get it.
They KNOW there is a heat issue on the right side (among places), they KNOW that there are a number of decent aftermarket fixes for the problem.
They KNOW every owner complains about it and for the most part, can't stand it.
WHY DON'T THEY FIX IT !!!!
They could come up with some directional vents or different air flow or even just show an effort by say wrapping the pipes under the seat with heat wrap.
Just had to share my 2 cents. :banghead:

I understand your frutstration; but you must not understand corporations...
It is impossible for a business of any decent size to actually accomplish anything in what a normal human would call "A reasonable length of Time..."
Endless meetings with engineers, lawyers, the build teams,. lawyers, test pilots, lawyers, focus groupls, lawyers, marketing gurus, lawyers...
Well... I'm sure that you get it. :gaah:
A half a dozen backyard engineers could fix it in a couple of hours and a couple of six-packs... and then go watch the game!
:yikes: It's not just the RT's that have heat issues I have an RS S and the other day it melted the sol off my boot maybe for xmass I will get me entire exhaust cramic coated and hope that fixes mu heat problem. jt

On my RT-Ltd, I had SpyderPop put on the upper block-off plate and I've added the Baker Air Wings, both the upper and lower wings. This has helped some but I think I reduced the problem greatly when I purchased a pair of stout leather Fire-fighter boots that are used by fire-fighters fighting forest fighters. I've ridden many days now with the air temperature above 90 degrees and while I can feel the heat, it's very tolerable and much better than when I wore either my First Gear or Can-Am boots.

Last week when I took off the right side tupperware to check the MC to see if it's melted (it's not and I go in Thursday for the recall fix), I had a chance to take a good look at the radiator and the pan. I thought about cutting a hole in the pan but as one person said above, I'd worry about the heat affecting something else. I may take of the SpyderPops block-off plate to see if anything changes. I've also thought about removing the upper block-off plate and purchasing the lower one to see if that makes any difference. I also like the method of attaching a 90 degree exhaust tip to the lower plate.

I think I've got things working pretty well now. I think the key is to wear proper equipment, especially good footwear. When it's hot out, I wear a mesh jacket, jeans, thin leather gloves, the fire-fighter boots, and a full-face helmet. Yes it's warm but it's not that bad.

BRP made the gas tank smaller to get off your saddle and cool off when you fill your gas tank.:roflblack::roflblack:.:joke::joke:

Wait no more 2014 are coming and BRP are claiming they run cooler, no heat problem, more powerful engine, good gas mileage and bigger fuel tank:yes:

Best solution for heat problems..... Baker Air Wings with Uppers and Lowers!

We have a 2012 RT Limited, and live in SW Florida year round. Daytime temps are still in the low to mid 90's, with 90 -100% humidity, which makes riding less than pleasant. .

I installed the upper block off plate from Spyderpops earlier this summer. Not much of a difference by itself.

Last week I installed the complete set of Baker Mfg. New Generation Air Wings with uppers and lowers. What a difference! We rode about 100 miles Sunday in 92 degrees, and my foot stayed cool, and my legs and crotch stayed dry! Overall a much more comfortable ride. Highly recommend this accessory.

Also learned that the Air Wings will prevent the loss of the side access panels, a previous $200.+ lesson for me!

My wife has a new 2013 RT with the heat problem on her right leg and foot:(. No surprise there. She 'asked':yikes: that I find the best solution. I have searched the archives and found many references to fixes but no one has come out and said, "this fix worked". I called the factory and asked if they recommend any solution and the answer was NO. Is there anyone that can give me some first hand experience as to what fix worked for them. Be confident that I will be forever grateful .

Just a though... Maybe a canister of some sort. Use that heat to as a hot air popcorn popper. ( I know I'm no help and a bit of a smart :cus: ss but it just popped into my head) Years ago people used engine heat to cook meals on road trips. Seems like the Spyder is a perfect candidate. Burrito and popcorn anyone? Fortunately my 2010 RT isn't very bad. Warm foot but nothing like the 2013 I've been reading about.
