Best Jack For Spyder

Hello Ryders!!
I am looking for suggestions on best way to get the Spyder off the ground for tinkering? I'm about to do some lighting and I want to get under the bike... What kind of jack do you have in your garage?

Also, i have ramps that i can raise bike up on but the question becomes how much pressure can the rear portion of the bike hold...is it recommended to to that way?? I'd prefer a jack all together ramps worry me.

Put the front on ramps and place a jack under the rear shock. There are several threads on this subject. I can't locate it now but I believe Lamont posted a video of jacking the Spyder.

Best $100 I spent on the Spyder. That jack, some good jackstands, and you're good to go!

That Sears is a beauty......another one to look at is " Harbor Freight " aluminum racing jack $ 69.00 ( with coupon) + $ 6.95 shipping if there is no store near you....Mike :thumbup:

Harbor freight is cheap and the lowering mechanism is counter intuitive but as a budget option it is good. I have the sears and it is fantastic, highly recommended!

I have the Harbor Freight jack that I got for $60+ with the coupon and so far I am very satisfied, especially for this low price.

I have the harbor freight aluminum race jack and jack stands. I have to admit that the sears or similar looks to make a stabler lift. :dontknow:

Jack for Spyder

There are several options for a jack to use with the :spyder:. Pick the one that suits you best. I found it takes some futzing to locate the proper placement to lift the :spyder:evenly. Once you determine the lift point, be sure you put the machine on jack stands before you do much "tinkering". Eight hundred pounds of machine 16 inches off the floor can be a very dangerous proposition. Remember, Murphy doesn't take any days off.

Motorcycle Jack

I recently purchased the Sears Professional M.C. jack, it works great and is very good quality. After jacking the Spyder up, I placed jack stands at all three points per Lamonsters photos using what appears to be the same M.C. jack. I purchased it from Sears for $158.00, money very well spent.

My Harbor Freight is OK

My Harbor Freight is OK, but if I did more service I would probably go the extra $100 for the Sears. The HF raises the Spyder easily enough, but, like some others have reported, drops pretty fast, even using proper technique. Not real stable when it's up high, but, like others, you should use the jack stands anyway. When the Spyder is low it is stable enough to turn the Spyder around in the garage. I've used it to lift other objects, and don't need it often for the Spyder, so it is worth the $66 bucks or so that I paid.

Sears other jack

Saw this today, sorry can't give you a link but sears model # 00950190, looks like it will do what the one pictured above will do.....has a large cradle etc.....Mike :thumbup:.....I think I may add this to my tool fleet hyea: So to put my money where my mouth is I bought the above Model Sears jack for $ 79.99 shipped to the store (free). It's normally $ 119.99. It's my Birthday present to myself :2excited: :clap:....Mike

Probably the same one my wife pointed out to me today, but I don't have the ad at hand. It appeared to be very similar to the Harbor Freight jack, with larger rear wheels and a little different handle construction. I have seen a jack exactly like the HF in an Orscheln store but different color with another brand name on it. Would not be surprised if it is around as other brands or configurations, including Sears.

The # 00950190 Sears doesn't look anything like the H.F. ( I now have both) It looks more like the one Scotty Posted. Mike....:thumbup:......Just go to Sears web site and look it up

I'm not an engineer, but the differences I see are cosmetic, different wheels and maybe the jack component itself, and the placement of the "brake." Sure looks like the same basic design though. Both rated for 1500 pounds.

Maybe we aren't comparing the same jacks. Are these the two you have?
