• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Best Floorboards for me?

Rockwall

New member
I am a brand new Spyder owner and have a 2012 RS SM5. My only concern is that I am 6'4" and the "sport" leg position seems like it will be uncomfortable for me on any type of longer rides. I have been researching floorboards and initially think that the Seals may work the best for a more relaxed ride. I would greatly appreciate any feedback on this issue and what others have found.

Thanks!:doorag:

I have been looking myself, none of the suppliers give details as to just how much lower they are as compaired to the foot pegs. Most of the pictures are not that great eather...However the other day I ran across a photo of a RS with ISCI Floorboards and they look as if they mount about even with the bottom of the lower plastic air flow pannel. This would be great! The other ones appear to mount somewhere in between (higher) and one I looked at appeared to mount above the existing foot peg. This would make for more leg cramps!:yikes: Ask questions before you buy:chat:.

The Seals actually mount on the existing footpegs after taking the pads off (on my RT). I admit I would like them to be about 2 or 3 inches lower but being able to stretch my legs forward helps a lot.

leg room

If you are looking to stretch your legs, I can recommend the ESI highway peg set up. I'm 6'6" and these allow me to stretch out quite a bit. If its floorboards you want, then I would look hard at Seals.

Look at the Seal Pups (short floorboards) & Lamonts NBV pegs. In combination, they'll let you stretch your legs & give you the comfort of the floorboards.

If you're going to SpyderFest, wait until then and look at all the Spyders with various foot pegs and floorboards. I'm sure the owners wouldn't mind if you sat on one of theirs to get the feel.

I agree

I can recommend the Seals. I wouldn't have been able to ride without them. My left leg is in bad shape and it would never have reached the peg location. Now I can stretch both legs out as far as I want.

for the lower type these are about as low as you can get ,this is what docdue has and look real good.

Seal Floor Boards

Love my Seal Floorboards.... Make ryding a lot more enjoyable.... The look, fit and quality is amazing...

We have Seal floorboards and really like them. Makes the ride a lot more comfortable. Good people to work with, also.

My Seal Floorboards are the same height as the foot pegs, but at 32" long you can really stretch out and take pressure off the old knees. I have a photo of a white RS on my gallery Page that really shows them off.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. Unfortunately it doesn't look like I can make Spyderfest this year. Otherwise I would finalize it there.

John, you will be seeing my order next month!:doorag:

DYI

DYI your own.... i did, and it's relatively easy....
i'm 6' 2" with a bad hip, and one day after a 300 mile ryde, my hip was killing me... as i sat in the MAN CAVE look'n @ my SPYD3R, it came to me...
here are the results -
SAM_0314.jpg SAM_0315.jpg no more sore hip, you also maintain the original 'foot pegs' for navigating the twistees in the mountain roads... and while cruising, a nice relaxed position for your feet, with your legs stretch out....

Look at Rivco Products floorboards. They are now on the Spyderlovers sponsers list. They are lower than stock and further forward. They will also accept any aftermarket Harley floorboard so you choose the look you want. Rivcoproducts.com.

The ISCI drop the floor board 3-4" below the peg and the mount makes it easy to install highway pegs. No better setup, but they are not cheap. Get what you pay for here.
