• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Benefit Ride for ASU Student Veterans Association

My son Brian is a purple heart Iraq war veteran and is attending college at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. He saw the need for a support group for other veterans on campus and in the area who were having a difficult time readjusting to civilian life. So, he started a Student Veterans Association. This is their first big fundraiser and it would be great if other Spyderlovers (and friends) in the area would join my husband (on his Goldwing) and me on the ride. It will begin in Wilkesboro, North Carolina on May 15. Check out the attached flyer.

Brian joined the Army straight out of high school and into the Ranger Unit (after boot camp) and then was with the 3rd Infantry Division that initially invaded Iraq, as well as a third tour to Iraq in which he was wounded (as a Sergeant). He came out with his head on very straight and we are very proud that he is giving back to other veterans. Please consider supporting this effort.

Thanks so much!

Gayle

Gayle,
There is no way I will be able to make the ride but if we lived closer, I sure would ride in support of this. Tell your son Thank You, not only of his service but what he is doing for other service men and women.

Thank you, Deb. I have no doubt that both you and Brian would be here if you could. I will pass along your message and appreciate your thanks.

I hope we can see you both at some future Spyder event. Unfortunately, we can't make the Missouri event or the Owners event in Chicago as we had so much fun out West at the L.A. Event, that we are headed that way again - only up to South Dakota for a couple of weeks in August.

Dang, I would love to go to this and love Boone but getting married on that day. However, I lead the local chapter of American Leagion riders for our post so let me let those guys know about this as well and see who can come out for the support. Will let me other local groups know as well.

That would be fantastic, Patches!! Be sure to note that the ride originates at the Crossroads Harley Davidson dealership in Wilkesboro not Boone. I guess they couldn't get any motorcycle business to sponsor in Boone. LOTS of good roads to ride even in Wilkesboro - similar to the mountains in Gatlinburg for those not familiar!

Congrats on the upcoming wedding!

I know the area pretty well, close enough for a long day trip. Not many moto shops in Boone due to the climate there. Heck, they don't even have a starbucks the last time I was there. Sent the word out to all the local groups I know. Hope you have a good turnout. Also, I would mention to your son to go to the local American Legions and VFWs. Many of them have thier own riding groups, I ride with my local one here all the time and they are all about getting on rides like this. Heck, you may even find a sponsor.

That is very useful info, Patches. I will pass along the word to him - and again thanks so much for your help and getting the word out.
