• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Belt shavings

I pulled the left side cover off to check the oil and noticed that there is some fine black shavings on the motor from the belt. Is this normal wear, or is the belt in need of alignment. Thanks.

If your belt is running wide at the back sprocket, it can cause this. One thing I have found is that the belt will try to run hard to the left, but will be limited by the front flange, so it will not look far out of alignment at the rear. BRP's spec is a minimum of 1/32" rear clearance, but it does not like much more than that. Try to stay close to 1/32" - 1/16", IMO. Check to make sure the belt isn't riding hard against either the the front or rear sprocket flange. If the belt is way off to the right in back, I suppose you could get shavings up front, too, but that much right misalignment will usually show as black marks and shavings on the rear sprocket flange. If all seems to be in proper alignment, clean it off and keep an eye on it. Could be just an accumulation over time, but should be minimal.

Belt Flakes

How many miles are on your unit??:dontknow:It is normal for a new Spyder belt to throw some flakes......the amount will decrease and eventually stop as your riding increases.
If it increases over time instead of decreases ,belt alignment should be checked. My unit stopped throwing flakes around 500 miles.Belt has stayed at proper tension and maintains a 1/32 clearance......Unit approaching 5000 Miles.

belt shavings

I had same problem on my se5, bought tension guage from napa, adj 1/2 turn on each screw ended up with 150 lls, no more shavings les vibration, virtually no vibration at any speed.:clap:
