• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

belt seems like too much off sprocket

I have r and I have read belt supposed to be a little off sprocket but it seems like its 1/3 way off. can I do a adjustment to move belt myself?

In order to determine where the belt is actually riding on the pulleys; you need to have ridden the bike straight ahead for a little bit to settle things down. Somebody once said that thrity feet or so ought to do it. :thumbup:
They actually move all over the place on that rear sprocket when you're backing up... :shocked:
 
When the dealer replaced my rear tire they adjusted the belt to be pretty much against the inside lip of the rear sprocket. I questioned it and they said it was to the new spec. I Looked at the other bikes they had for sale and they were the same way.
 
If the change was sudden, you had better check your front sprocket and output shaft. That's a classic sign of a failing front sprocket. Best to also check your rear wheel bearings, they can do the same thing. Belt adjustment doesn't suddenly change for no reason. If you took things apart or played with the adjustment, that's probably the cause, but otherwise look deeper for the reason.
 
My belt was going the other way on my RT after a rear tire change. It was against the flange on the rear sprocket. This caused the belt to leave "tracks" on the flange and also a lot of black belt dust on the rear wheel. I didn't notice it for about 4 or 5 hundres miles. Sounds like yours is going the other way. It should be just a credit card width off the rear flange. Lamont posted a good demo of adjusting the belt. you should be able to do a search and find it.
 
Mine runs right at touching the flange (closest to the wheel). I tried messing with it but there wasn't much room on the front pulley so I put it back and decided that it has 7,000 miles like that.... hopefully it will go 7 more :firstplace:

when all else fails dig out your owners manual and read up. The 2011 SE-5, RTL manual says 1/32nd of an inch. Which is pretty tight to the inside flange. Dig out your machinist ruler and lay it on the belt and see. Bet is right on target. I would venture a good guess that all the drive belt specifications are spot on for all the various models
