• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

how do you keep the belt adjustment from changing when you tighten the axle nuts it is easy to get the adjustment right with the adjusters but when you tighten the axle nuts it walks the blocks inside the swing arm the adjusters should be push pull instead of only one way

When i adjusted my belt i just slightly loosened the Axel nuts, then set the adjusters And slowly tighten the Axel nuts.
The adjusters aren't like a motorcycle, The adjusters on the Spyder actually cock the wheel a little.

I had the same problem and what worked for me was to put the socket on the left side and tighten it that way holding the right with a wrench. Seemed to go for me. I did it the other way and the damn right side kept moving around on me.

I'll be replacing my rear tire in the next week or two, and while I have everything apart, I'm gong to look closely at the possibility of adding jack screws to the system.

On the drive belt side, a single tension screw is adequate because you always have some force pulling the axle forward. On the right side, however, jack and tension screws sure would make tracking adjustments a lot easier.
 
I have a 08 that I bought used a month ago. The bike had just came out of a Can Am dealer and had oil changes and inspections done, and noticed that the belt seems, in my opinion, to be extremly tight. I push down on it with my finger and there is "NO" deflection at all. Is this proper?

There isn't much. Grab it in the center of the run, and twist it with your thumb and forefinger. If it twists to about 90 degrees, it is pretty close. less is too tight, and much more is too loose. Your dealer is best equipped to set the tension correctly with his sonic gauge...and that's a good idea since the belt tension spec was lowered twice. You can buy a Krikit-2 belt tension gauge at the NAPA dealer. Compare that reading to what the dealer set it at, and you will have a baseline for future reference.

I keep my belt tension at 120 Kricket. I have no vibration, zero. The belt tracks perfectly at 1MM from the flange. Since lowering tension the shifting is effortless and I doubt I will ever have to replace any wheel bearings. The need for a sonic tension meter is complete nonsense......

I adjust with the rear tire off the ground. I have ridden with this low tension up to 100 MPH with no vibration. I lowered it to 150 kricket the day after I bought it new from dealer. The benefit was immediate. I still had small vibes at 65 MPH. Now at 120 kricket or less, no vibes at all.
I ran the bike on the jack to check the tracking but I don't recomend doing this because the VSS will protest and put Spyder into limp home. It resets by itself.
