Hello all,

I hope that your weekend is providing everything that you need to face the upcoming week...


Has anyone tried on or purchased the Bell Rogue helmet? Yes, the look is what caught my attention and yes I know it is less protection than a full face helmet. My questions are what differences will I see between that helmet and my 3/4 helmet. How much louder will road noise be versus the 3/4. I don't think it is the best priced helmet on the market but if I was truly all that frugal I wouldn't have a spyder.

yeah, even us good guys have our moments when we want to be or at least look the part of "lone wolf".

Got a chance to try on the Bell Rogue and to my surprise, it was very comfortable. I have a big head so even though I have had my HJC helmet for about 9 months it is still a snug fit so I expected the same here. It may be the different brand but this helmet was really soft on the side of my head and the mouth guard was no problem either. I already use a 3/4 helmet so the feel was pretty normal. The catch now is A) the $250.00 price tag is hard to swallow for a frugal guy like me and B) I will need to wear some type of goggles with it but since I don't wear glasses nor sunglasses it was really awkward trying them on. If I can figure out the right combination of goggles/ sunglasses with the helmet it is definitely on my "want to get it" list.

As you can see from the above graphic most impacts occur in the yellow zone. I also altinate between a 3/4 and full face based on heat here in the south during the summer and whether I will be traveling on the interstate. I have several 1/2 helmets but no longer wear them after a few accidents locally have convinced me of their poor protection. Everyone has a choice and I hope that I am not coming across as preaching but I just want new folks to riding to have some information.

no sir, not coming off as preaching but rather as passing on good information to a less experienced rider and I appreciate that...when checking this helmet out, I knew that it was giving up some protection versus gaining more protection from my current 3/4 helmet. The lack of protection is another reason I am skeptical about the purchase. I like the look, but safety is always in the forefront of my thoughts.

That crossed my mind too. I have the Sena smh10 also. The speakers seem like they would fit fine but I don't know if a boomed mic would work. Truth be told I could stand a ride without the talk feature sometimes but a ride without my music might be too much to handle.

Was thinking of buying one or a AGV Diesel... Then last Sunday, while on my Norton Commando, I locked the rear (long story involving custom made parts) in a slow turn with some sand on the ground... At 20mph! Sticking to full faces from now on!

Whoa! Glad that you are okay. My saying is "there is no such thing as a fender bender when not in a closed in vehicle".

Yeah buying a helmet before trying it on is not a good idea. Really that goes for jackets too. The one I have now is good and I feel protected but some of the stitching is not good(ordered online and is off brand). I tried a jacket on at a local shop recently and the fit and quality upgrade was obvious.

The Bell Rogue is still something that I consider to be a really cool concept(lacks some safety features, but that is obvious when you see it). I came across another site that if you are creative could still give that "tough biker look" but at half the price of the Rogue. Anyone seen these around before?

that's why I announce everything on Spyder Lovers, there is always someone on here that knows a little bit about any topic I can come up with...true wealth of knowledge. depending on the return policy, I would try it myself and send it back if it was a "no go".

How about the SHARK Raw SOYOUZ helmet? I haven't tried this one on yet though so I don't know if it will be as comfortable.

[h=1]Scorpion EXO-100 Tribal Helmet is what I wear a lot. It is close in design to the bell without the muzzle. As far as buffeting and excessive noise I have no problem with either even at highway speeds. I have the G9 communication in it and have no problem with not hearing the phone or GPS or music. Yes this type helmet is noisier than a 3/4 or full but to me it is a tolerable level.With the side speaker pockets there is some noise reduction. If this is the style helmet you prefer the the Bell should work well for you. [/h]

I love all things shark. Have 3 shark lids and love them all and use the evoline all the time as the perfect all round type helmet. I'd be interested to see the Raw as I've had nothing but love for my sharks.

Make sure Laila still has a dad as she grows up. Buy a quality full face helmet.
