• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

ok what gives, My wife goes out in February, orders a ultra touring windscreen for my b-day, pays in full. has a reciept paid in full. ($249). Now it is anounced that they are $299. So can I go to the dealer and say "look I paid in full, if BRP changed prices, not my problem" am I screwed and have to pony up another $50 for a now very over priced peice of plastic. or do I say FU and get a 3rd party windscreen.

pissed off comments welcomed.

Dealers LOSS and not yours,, if your wife is holding in hand a receipt that says "Paid in Full" you are covered.. If they insist on the 50.00 you are dealing with a dealer who has no customer skill relationship and I WOULD NOT deal with them every again.. Cancel the order and get your money back if this is the case but I'm not even really sure they can do that by law.. Good Luck and play hard nose with'em.

Granted BRPmay have its faults but the dealer can make this right. He can either contact BRP and get help from the PAC dept or he can cut his margin of profit and make the cust. happy. In fact he should have just done that and not pissed in your wheaties to begin with.. I know I may not be best customer relation guy in world but that is a no BRAINERRRR.. Sorry they ruined your wifes gift to you.. But again not BRPs fault here..

As a Spyder salesman and a service advisor... I won't sell a customer something we don't have in stock. But, if I did... I'd eat it.

First of all, seems like you haven't even gone to the dealer yet with your receipt, so you may be getting all twixted out for nothing. When your windshield gets there, just go with your receipt and pick it up. If nothing is said, you're good. If the dealer wants more money, then you talk. If you don't think you should pay more, ask for a refund, telling him that the shield does not meet your requirements. You bought sight unseen, and once seen, you don't want it. Even if he doesn't ask you for more money, if you don't like it, ask for your money back.

+1, I agree the dealer is the one that should be making this right. My dealer showed me the photos of the windshield several months back, but made no mention of pricing. Told me they weren't sure of the cost.

Agree with Dudley. It does seem you are assuming before you even go to the dealer. At least that's the way I read it.

:agree: from what I read it looks like you are ticked off without even knowing the outcome. I hardly doubt that the dealer will ask you for another $50. When they sold you that windshield the dealer still made money on it. Now they have updated prices but you will still get yours at what you paid.

:agree: sounds like you're getting worked up over nothing. They raised the MSRP on the Spyder $1000 before I took delivery of mine but I still paid the price I was quoted. Chillout Dude :chill:

+2 You have to give them a chance then if they don't work with you then let us know so we don't fall in the same trap. be prepared they may not want to return your cash and offer you store credit. which is not bad either considering from what i here service charges are.

Actually I wrote this thread after getting off the phone with the dealer and I do appolgize for not adding in details. The price was from a BRP spyder catalog from the december time frame. It had the windscreen in it for that price.
When I did call to check on it, the dealer informed me that brp jacked the prices by $50. I mentioned that it was paid in full and I got the " it was sold before it had parts added to it, so it is considered a different package" crap line. I have every intention of sticking to my guns on this. Ill get a CHAD instead. The real test comes when the brp windscreens arrive,, he had no delivery date as of yet. I didnt argue with him, left it as it stood, with a reciept stating paid in full in hand and the dealer aware of it.

OK, now I'm with you. What parts can you "add" to a clear windshield that uses the same mounting screws and holes of the original one? And $50??? Well, good luck on this. This situation may help others to not order before availability. If he doesn't let you have the windshield for what you paid (don't forget, he has been using your money since February, you have been paying interest on the money if you charged it, and you have never taken possession) I would be taking all by business elsewhere if I could. Happy Birthday!

Must be the wind deflectors that now come with the windshield. I agree with you though, my business would be going somewhere else. The dealer took payment in full without knowing when those products were going to be available and so it should be them who eat the additional $50 and not the customer.

if he doesnt honor the price..........ya know what always works for me, have a freind type up a legal action intent letter, give it to your dealer and tell him its from your laywer.

did you buy the spyder at this dealer? does he really wanna lose a customer over 50 stinkin bucks?

I'd find the most expensive bike, sled, atv...whatever in the shop and :cus: all over it. Immature to suggest?...........of course.........but it would make me feel better:roflblack:

I don't think this is as much of a matter of being screwed by BRP, as of BRP screwing up. When the Ultra Touring Windshield was first announced at $249.95, it was still not available, and was undergoing testing. BRP's mistake was assigning a part number and accepting orders. Along the way, the shield was redesigned, ending up as two different height shields, both with wind deflectors for the Spyder body, which BRP felt were necessary as a result of their testing. The price increased to $299.95. I believe the part numbers also changed.

A good dealer would honor the earlier commitment, despite the change in price. He may have nothing for you to purchase, with the parts number change, however, and will not know which of the two sizes to provide. I think that he will probably be stuck just apologizing and offering you a refund. Anything beyond that is strictly at his expense, and his discretion. An understanding attitude on your part could go a long way toward trying to make things right. I hope he comes through for you, but this may be a good time to reassess your windshield options.

I think part of the price increase was the side deflectors. When you ordered and paid for yours the side deflectors were not listed right? If not tell them to keep those for the agreed price.
