Well, my bike is in the shop for the last of my overheating issue...Dealership replaced the Temperature sensor, Radiator, and Thermostat at the request of BRP and sent the parts back to BRP for inspection. In the meantime, I have been given this new 2013 RT Limited delivered with 160 miles on it. I am envious of the size of the frunk, the auto-adjustable suspension, and the auto adjustable windshield. The only knock I have on this beauty is that she stalled on me twice on the way to p/u my son from school (5.7 mile trip). I'm sitting in the intersection with a green light (and a line of cars behind me) and she won't restart!!!
Finally got her started, got to his school, and after both of us are in the bike, it won't start again!!!
Got it to start after 15 mins sitting in the heat with full gear (armor jacket, helmet, gloves, etc.), drive home and decide to kill the engine and try to restart. Long story short, I discovered the ignition switch (not sure this is what it's called, but i'm referring to the red switch used to start or kill the bike when it's running) was not making a good connection.
The Spyder was dying on me because I had touched (not flicked it to kill the bike...just barely grazed it) the switch with my thumb when driving. Furthermore, it seemed as if it has a loose connection because it took several flicks off, then back on before the bike would finally start...once it started, the bike will continue to run fine if I don't touch the switch again and shut it off with the key and not the switch.
Sent an e-mail to the dealer about the faulty switch. I'm thinking it's a fairly easy repair. Other than the frustrations aver the bike not starting, the thing rode like a dream. really enjoyed stiffening up the suspension with the touch of a button. Not sure if it has been done already, but i'd love to do a floorboard swap for the ones on the RT too. Anyone know of an ST conversion using RT floorboards? Looks like it might work...
Oh, one more thing...you RT owners are spoiled in luxury. Although I LOVE My ST Ltd, I could totally see my next spyder being an RT. I'd love to road trip on that thing :2thumbs:
