Bead Seat Help

At some earlier point, someone posted info about a bead seat for an RT and mentioned the dimensions and the company selling them. I've searched for the thread and can't seem to find it. Does anybody have a bead seat on an RT and know what the dimensions are and where it was purchased?

do a google search on them ... a good seat review somewhere comparing airhawks. beads, gel

airhawk was best followed by bead seats...

beaded seat for passenger

I have not tried one on the RT for the passenger.

The stock passenger seat has plenty of width but the depth is a little hard to measure due to the 'hump' .

Since I have not ridden on the back--I can not comment on the 'hump' .
It does seem to compress reasonably so perhaps it works well to support the passenger and not allow sliding forward ( a good thing).

Passenger beaded seats are rectangular rather than the drivers seat which has a shape that has a narrow front 'extension' that closely fits the front taper on most motorcycle driver seats.

My best guess is that the 10X12 (12 wide by 10 deep) would fit best. I measured my stock seat and that is the one I would expect to work best.

The 8X8 might work--but it is really small and meant more for the rear seat on older/smaller bikes or sportbikes. We sell very few 8 x 8 seats.

That said--if you get the 10X12 and it does not work on the seat--we would gladly take it back for refund or exchange.

I was going through receipts today and ran across the one for my beade seat. Ordered from cyclegiant.com part #WS 673BC. It worked well on my GS and I now have it on my RTS. $17.99 for the seat and $6.99 shipping.

Mine has 4 vinyl coated hooks(2 per side) with elastic cords that hook over the edge of the seat.

For the long haul Airhawk is the way to go. I have sold these to many customers and have gotten back great reports.
We used them a lot on our RS Spyder. Not so much on the RT. The RT seats are way more comfortable than the Corbin seat we had on the RS.

The Airhawk is probably great, but for my wants(air circulation between the butt and the seat) the beads, for the price was the best way to go.
Just my opinion.

yes if price is first then beads are great

if you can get over the cost of the airhawks; I had a hard time doing that, but once I did it... i was not sorry buying. the airhawks actually allow air to flow under you

they are waterproof and yeah the RT seats are nice but they still stress out your tail bone .. any seat will. the airhwaks cover that problem. its not like your not tired after riding all day just that your not sore... beads from what I read keep the pain away but you are still sitting on beads pressing on your butt...

Whenever you shift on the seat, the beads will roll, changing the contact area. Between the GS and the RTS, I've ridden the beads about 16K miles.

I recently purchased a beaded seat cover (ceramic beads) for my RTS. I have not noticed any sliding around, however, I'm not completely convinced that this makes that much difference when riding long distance in hot weather. The jury is still out on the bead seat cover for me. I think it helps, but I'm not convinced at this point that it makes a "big" difference when riding long distance. Time will tell. Also, sitting on the beads feels a lot different that the plain seat, I have gotten a bit use to it now, but the difference was very noticeable the first few times I rode with the beaded seat cover.
