• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Battery terminal question onn 2012 RTS

Your mistake was that you did not attempt to connect to the battery terminals...you used the jump start terminals (under the seat for 2012 and prior). You really should connect such harnesses directly to the battery terminals, under the left rear side body panel. After you get to the nut on the negative jumper post, go to the other side and do it right.[Quote ]

That one is a ground cable, so it won't arc at the tool when you accidentlattly touch the frame.

The arcing happens when your wrench is on the nut and touches a positive post on the back side of the fuse panel that you're trying to work around. Like I said, I have a notched 10mm wrench to show for it.

Thanks for the information. I guess the wrenches I rigged up to do the job didn't get near that exposed terminal. Not sure why they would leave a positive terminal exposed like that, either...especially in that area. Sounds like time for some liquid electrical tape. IMO there should not be any exposed positive connections on a vehicle other than the battery terminal.

If I recall correctly, & it's been over three years since I did it, it was actually a heavy connector that ran from the battery that powers the fuse terminals. With the wrench on the grounded terminal nut I touched it to that connector that runs to the battery.

Guess what under your seat??????

Under your seat is a fine plug in connection for your battery tender all wired in and ready to charge (came from the factory)--without screwing up your battery terminals. Good luck with the repairs to your battery .
