• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Battery tender connection

Help, confused, I wanted to install a battery tender. Simple?? I was connecting to the positive and ground exposed under the seat. The positive connected no issue. The negative bolt doesn't come out or will not go in. It just spins and spins. What am I doing crazy?:gaah::gaah:

The bolt attaching to the frame I can't get it to tighten or loosen it just spins. Do you know how to get it to tighten

You are going to have to take off the body panels, then buy, make or cut down a wrench to sneak in there to get on the nut, and tighten it. BRP should put a warning label on the jumper connection so people don't try to loosen it!

Yes-- you have to access that bolt from the rear and under-- otherwise it will just spin. It's better to hook the battery tender directly to the battery --which you have to remove the rear left panel to get to.

That is one place I would have liked to see a weld-bolt.

You're now going to have to remove the rear right panel and try to get something on that bolt to tighten it back up.

Been there - done that. You might be able to wedge a flat-tip screwdriver in there and hold it well enough to tighten it.
 
Don't Use the grnd.conn.under seat, Conn Bat tender directly to batt.
pos and neg post....On RS there is a small opening that you can run Tender pig tail under the seat for easy access

i heated a 10 mm wrench and bent it so it would go on the nut under the frame it has to have a serious bend to get in there:gaah:
 
Same problem on my RT. I ran the grounds for my Tender and my GPS to the post that the seat prop attaches to. It's next to the stupid, nutted factory ground. No problems. I also suggested to the BRP rep that they tap the hole for the factory ground and eliminate the nut.

I appreciate the info. I finally got it tight again. I just thought it was welded nut. I don't understand why it is that way. Anyway as they say in Hawaii much Mahalos for your help.
 
I appreciate the difficulty you had with that damn grounding nut. Many of us have gone through the same issue and finally resolved it.
As to the point I thought you were raisng in your original note:

All I've done was to raise the seat and use the alligator clips to connect the battery tender.

Admittedly, this is an inelegant and less convenient solution, but I've found it to be quite practical.

During the riding season, lifting the seat, clipping the leads on and plugging in the tender at each use would be a real pain. But during the riding season, I'm on the Spyder often enough that I have no need for a battery tender.

During off-peak season, I only ride a half dozen times. The seat lift, clip routine isn't terribly onerous that few times.

Battery Tender

I want to use the tender for a couple other applications. The tender connection allows me to make quick and safe connections to some accessories. I carry items in my tank bag. I use this on my two wheeler and really like it. Then when I have extended down time I plug the charger in. Its a simple adaption for multiple uses.
