• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Battery Life

What is the typical life of a CanAm battery? The previous owner of my 2008 GS SE5 kept it on a tender all the time. After 16 months of ownership, I have to charge it almost every time I want to ride it now, even if I rode it 10-15 miles the day before. Also, not only do I get the "low battery" readout message, it also tells me my brake pedal is engaged and it is not. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Get a new battery. Mine last exactly two years. I check at the dealer and they offer it for $150 with a 4 month warranty. I found a store that only sell batteries ( Battery Plus ) and got one for a $130 and two year warranty. Auto parts stores do not carry this size.

Battery's are mysterious black box's, Some last two year's some seven, MOST somewhere it between.
If you you have to charge the battery every time you have to ride i would think sooner THAN later your going to get stuck on the road, Get a new battery.

Not all agree with me, but I change out my motorcycle batteries every three years, needed or not. I have a battery tender on them 24/7 most of the time. They start and that is the reason I do what I do.

Does putting it on the battery tender keep you from getting the "battery failure" message and parking brake idiot light? I have an 08 as well with the original battery and recently have gotten those messages. I don't use a tender except in the winter when I don't ride. I ride everyday now so saw no need. But with that message and light........:dontknow:

We changed our '08 battery out earlier in the year and keep the battery tender on it when it's in the garage. Ed also put a battery bug on it, which monitors the voltage/battery charge all the time. Our new battery came from BatteryMart.

:welcome: It's been a long time since you last posted. Hope all is well with you. It sounds like the battery has seen its better days and I would recommend getting a new one.

I am planning on replacing the battery on my 2010 at the end of the season this year since its going on three years old. I believe in better safe than sorry.

A big "Thank you" for all the input on my battery life question. I have never heard of a "Battery Bug." Will research it.
