There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Battery Life

I say 3-4 years is a good life to get from your battery. I always plug my Spyder in after each ride. And it stays plugged in till I ride it the next time. I got 5 years out of my Royal Star battery and it was still going strong when I traded it in. My16 F3, 4 years, traded it in. Like Mike pointed out, I always carry a jump starter in the trunk. Tom :spyder:

:coffee: BK post is '(19 meaning the year 2019)'. So 2019 less 2014 = 5. So a five year battery life.

Actually, if the Spyder was produced and put on the sales lot I'm 2014 you have to count 2014 as well. Battery replaced in 2020 spring, so count all of 2019 as well, which totals 6 years. All of 14, all of 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19.

I've gone 7 yrs with a Yuasa, tended during garage time. But it left me on the road then, so now I have readjusted my "replacement" time to 5 yrs max when properly tended. If not tended, go with the 3 yr. suggestion. My experience has been with "quality batteries" only, no off brands. My thoughts.........

I totally agree. All of my bikes have been Yuasa batteries. I've mostly ridden Honda's, and they all came with OEM Yuasa, and I've always replaced either 2 or 3 years, but at the time I was living in a much colder climate. Now I'm in a more moderate climate and this is the longest I've ever gone without changing. I'm going to plan on every 4 or 5 years.

This thread made me curious, and eager to learn. In my cars the batteries seem to last at least 10 years. In my daily driver I changed the original battery after 15 years in service (a cell totally gave up last summer). Sure, the batteries in my cars are kept fully charged due to the frequent usuage, but still, they are also kept outside in the usually quite cold Swedish winter. So I imagine they do not have an extremely easy life.
Are the motorbike batteries different in internal construction or chemistry, that would explain why it seems like 3 years is a reasonable life expectency of them? Or is this just a recommendation to have a great margin and not be left at the side of the road? :)

I find that hard to believe! I've never had a car or pickup battery last more than about 5 years. My previous pickup battery totally crapped out in less than 2 years, while it was still in the free replacement warranty period from Costco.

Motorcycle Battery Life

:coffee: Well, the battery life is usually less than a car (driven daily) . Most cars are used daily and this helps keep your battery charged and ready to go.

Just saying that if you're one of those people who do daily runs on your Ryde. You will be the Lucky Ones that get longer Battery Life.

The General Battery Life depends on your area of the World. Temperatures, Time, Quality of the battery and Care of your Battery. An OEM Spyder battery can and will last longer than 3 years.

The thing about off brand is that nowadays, which one is it? The longest I had any battery last was the OEM Kawasaki AGM with some weird name like SuperPower of something similar. On the other hand my "made in USA" Yuasa died in 10 months. One thing I know, don't get your batteries from the dealership as it will reduce the battery warranty down to 6 month (As was pointed out to me when I was griping about my battery dying prematurely), as shown in your normal warranty from Can Am.
