Battery Drain and Failed 11 Month Old Yuasa Battery - anyone know what the installed current draw is?

When we bought a “new” leftover 2022 RTL in March of 2025, the dealership installed a new Yuasa battery. This dealership is large, but unfortunately, about a two hour ride from our house. When we took in the Spyder last month for the first service, they said the battery was bad, and would only charge to 12.3v. I had them replace the battery with a new Yuasa and I was told I needed to go to the selling retailer for the warranty claim. The warranty claim was they’d give me a non activated battery and acid pack but not cover the $229 replacement cost I’m out.

We charged our old battery monthly with it installed in the Spyder. I use a Schumacher SC1319 and have for several years and I previously used it to maintain the battery in our 2013 RTS.
Does anyone know what the installed current draw is on our batteries? (2022 RTL).
I’ve never had to keep a battery on a tender 100% of the time.

I’m in discussions with Yuasa about getting a $ refund. Given their latest response, if the battery fails I need to go to the selling dealership for the warranty claim. I asked them about a situation where I can’t get to the selling dealership without getting a new battery, like when you’re traveling. Can’t any Yuasa dealer handle the claim? At this point the company hasn’t answered that question and simply told me the selling retailer is who I need to go through.

Sorry for the ramble,
B

I've always left my tender on all winter on any bike I've owned. Same as my generator, my ZT, and my diesel lawn tractor. Just replaced the battery in my tractor after 7 years I think it was, don't know how long the previous owner had it. My ZT, which uses a small lawn tractor battery, is on it's 6th year. The generator, I'm going on 5 years and that's on 24/7/365.

@EKB2to3Wheelz, Spyders have a fair amount of parasitic battery drain because of the DESS. Not charging it for a month is not good. I leave my Spyder off the tender for a few days once in a while, but never much longer than that.

Thanks. I’ve got a digital MM I can do this with. This will get added to the to do list. After motorcycle brakes, camper roof screws.....

It ALWAYS pays to search first, and do some reading to see what's already been said about any questions you might have, and even if you've done that already, you juuust might've been using the wrong search string/keywords &/or settings (especially if you were only looking for just current draw &/or battery warranty info) to get the down low on what could be going on with your Spyder's battery/batteries and causing your issues!

So I'm pretty sure that it'll help you a lot to do a search (top right of the page, near your username) on the word 'battery' with the 'Search titles only' box checked; submit the search; then, using the titles of the results returned as a guide to aid your selection of the most appropriate threads to read, spend some time reading the existing threads - there's a helluva lot of info that's been posted on the Forum already about how and why even brand new batteries can fail; the 'parasitic draw' that's present on Spyders even when they've been parked up; how long you can safely leave your Spyder before connecting a tender/charger/maintainer; the hazards of leaving batteries connected to a tender all the time; the need to properly initialise a new battery AND fully charge them BEFORE installing them or risk premature failures; and more that could well apply to you/your battery issues right now, altho maybe not too much that'll help with your warranty concerns - basically, there's way more info & potential help already posted on the Forum than you're likely to get in the way of replies here... 😕

Just Sayin' ;)
