• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

ok, battery dead after winter storage. Bike is stored in heated garage and I put a battery tender on it every 2nd or 3rd week for a week. All of a sudden it's dead and wont take a charge. Its so dead the battery tender doesnt even recognize its hooked up. Yuasa battery....:cus:

so....lookin for a new battery. I'm sure there are allot of you out there that have replaced the bettery. what is everyone going with? I got my eyes set on an Odyssey.

any suggestions?

First, I'd check the connections for corrosion and tightness. It is common to loose a connection when the weather changes. If you are charging remotely, that could cause a loss of the voltage reading. Most smart battery chargers need to read a certain, minimum voltage to start charging. You can charge with a plain old trickle charger to bring the battery up until you can hook up the Tender. Better to leave the Tender on all the time during winter, BTW.

Chances are your battery has failed, if the charge was low during freezing weather. Removing it and having it charged and tested at a dealer would tell you for certain. If it has failed, it will have to be replaced. It doesn't hurt to clean and tighten the terminals, and try to charge it first, though.

Odyssey is the way to go. 6-10 years of projected service life at about or less the price of a OEM Yausa at the dealer. It's a no brainer. I bought mine over winter as I knew the battery is already really weak when I put it away. New Odyssey is going in right before the first ride.

There could also be corrosion at the fuse, if you tender has an inline fuse. Worth a check.

:agree: No need to take it off the Battery Tender ---- I leave mine plugged in all the time-- even most nights in the summer.

thanks for your replies. i take the tender on and off because I have a few batteries that I rotate on the tender. Guess I should just get 3 more tenders. I decided for sure to get the Odyssey. Yeh I checked all the areas for corrossion. The battery terminals themselves had corrosion but no other points. Also that was the first I ever saw corrosion on the battery so Im not sure what that was all about - maybe just from it dying or was the corrosion causing the dying?

I have also read that certain batteries dont like certain charges and that the charger could actually kill it.

I also took the battery out when this happened and put on a different charger and that charger wouldnt charge it either.
