• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Bat to the face...splat

I was just going to pay homage to Jared and get a 5.00 sammy...all was great until 3/4 home when what I determined to be, because of last image of a brown fuzzy, slap and no guts, flying mouse. Didn't really hurt(only cried a little...mom would be proud), but it did break the skin just above the eyebrow...even though I had the face shield up, I had some lenses on...could have been worse. So now there's the lingering fear of rabies...hmmm.

Glad you're OK, too. Hope the doc doesn't think you need the rabies series. I hear it isn't fun. Does this incident mean the Spyder is faster than sonar? Wow!

Are you sure the Spyder didn't provoke it...

Well....I feel just as good as I did yesterday...so I'll give the bat a pass and thank him for clearing the road of bugs!

I see a new username coming... I'll start!

How about BatBrain?
BatBasher?
KillerBat?
TheMadBatter?

Are you gonna get a cape and utility belt? I think a blacked-out Spyder would make a fantastic BatCycle!

Ughhh, I know, this is really bad stuff... But it could be worse... A guy in a local riding club took a blackbird strike -- left pieces of its beak embedded in his forehead. Anyone care to guess his new road name?

Wait for it...

Would you believe Peckerhead? Sorry, couldn't he'p m'self! Glad to hear you didn't get hurt batly, I mean badly...

Regards,

Mark

BAHAWAAAAAAA :clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

Dang! A Bat! Out in the woods where I live, that could be a hazard. My wife nearly smacked an owl last year in her Mazda Protege.

'Glad you're okay!

Hate to be the bearer of bad news bro, but you need to see your family doc or walk-in clinic ASAP. Unless you were able to retrieve the bat corpse for the local medical officer of health to test for rabies, I think you will definitely need a course of anti-rabies shots. The good news is, I understand they are not as painful as they used to be (no longer need to be injected through the abdomen.)

Arrggg....been reading up on this rabies thing...could be 10 days to 1 year until symptoms show(like sudden coma, seizure or cardiac arrest). A little hard to contract it...just touching a rabid bats outer surface, feces, urine or even blood won't do it since it is very weak and quickly dies outside the body. 2 cases of possible inhalation from being in a cave full of bats. It likes the nervous system, and is most likely transfered through saliva or a highly unlikely contact with brain and maybe inner eye material. Very possible that the impact could have caused a wound to open on me and the bat at the same time...thats a maybe. If my wound is from a head on with its face...a definite contraction. Too late to get the bat...how would I even know if it was the one I hit...maybe it flew away and I find a bat some one else hit 5 minutes later.
Welllll...gonna just get the shots...tooo many possibilities and testing requires spinal fluid removal.

Arrggg is right! Good luck on the shots! :(:(:(

good luck, was hit in the shoulder by a bat Sunday night turning a corner by the garage. Glancing blow and no break of the skin. That furry fiend didn't even say excuse me!

Check with your doctor -- he or she should have the best info available for you. The shots are nowhere near as bad as they used to be. My understanding is six, total shots; one shot near the possible infection site, the rest in the shoulder over a 30-day period. Given that, I wouldn't fool with testing either.

If you do decide to test, get a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to stick you. They do Epidural anesthesia for labor all the time. If someone's gonna stick a needle in my spinal column it's gonna be someone who's done it thousands of times...

Good that you make a decision quickly tho; everything I've read says start the treatment as soon as possible after suspected exposure.

Now I feel bad for making all the bat jokes...

How about we just call you Porcupine? Uhggg -- somebody stop me, I just can't help it!

Regards,

Mark

OMG, I would have died of a heart attack right then and there. We travel to the Dominican Republic alot for vacation and they have HUGE fruit bats. We call them night birds when they come out...makes me less apt to run away screaming! I know they serve a purpose but I will take a bug any day over a bat. Good luck with your doc.
