• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Bar Riser Question (no, not where to buy them)

My spyder (well, now my wife's spyder) has a 3" riser on it and this isn't working too well for her. Will the Helibar or ESI 4" risers put her in a better riding position? Enough to matter? She is 5'-4" tall.

I know I have the 4" risers on mine and they work great, but I'm 5'-9" so I would think the heli bars are the way to go as I think they have up to 7" to play with .

is there any cheap spyder insurance?

i just signed up, in cincinnati. been researching the spyder for several weeks, just about ready to pop on an 08, or 09 sm5. can anyone steer me towards the cheapest ins.

What kind of 'riser' does she have? Is it one that was installed on the center steering? Or are their two of them-- one on each side with the ends of the bars cut off?

The stock cables will only allow you to go up and/or back so far. 4" of rise is pretty much the maximum you can do (ESI 3" or 4" or kewlmetal adjustable risers for example).

If you need further rise or setback, then the helibars or kewlmetal center console unit might work-- but you'll need to get new longer control cables -- which I think heli and/or kewlmetal sell...

My advice is to shop around, There are too many factors that contribute to Vehicle insurance...Such as Driving record, Age, Credit status, State and area you live in,...Good Luck......

I have the Helibar riser alone. No BRP 1" as well. Just the Helibar riser alone. I'm 5'3". Yes, there are times when I would like the 1" BRP on there as well. But, it's not worth the money to have someone take everything apart to put it on. My dealer at the time said the Helibar riser would not work with the 1" BRP. Helibar says it will. I had the BRP 1" on there already and I would have liked it to stay on there, longer cables needed or not. But, what I have is working.

I would be surpised if the Helibar alone didn't work for your wife. I like it over the ESI risers as the stock bars stay intact.

It would be great if you could find a Spyder for your wife to sit on that has the Helibar on it. There just are not a lot of us (at least on Spyderlovers) who have this riser. To each his own, but I really like my Helibar riser!!

Maybe a set of these on a Spyder? I'd like to see that...

I did what you are talking about. On my SE5 2008 Spyder I installed the 1" OEM riser and also the Helibar. The two work together very well BUT I thought the accerator cables were too tight so I bought 6" longer new ones from Barntte. They worked out well. But I still was not comfortable so I made foot boards that moved my feet forward about 7" and that still didn't do it completely. I had the OEM seat reformed twice but with no success. Then I purchased a Corbin seat and that also was not comfortable so I had that reformed twice locally with no positive effect. Then I decided to copy the seat form on my HD Ultra. I made templates from 1/4" threeply (triplay) and bought way too much rubber foam and its glue and I began cutting and gluing and sanding using the original OEM seat frame. I just installed the last effort to be able to ride a comfortable Spyder and I did it. I wasn't going to let my Spyder get the best of me. There were alot of in betweens but if I told you all of them this letter would never end. The OEM 1" riser and the Heli Bar work together perfectly. Arthur---Mexico
