BALANCING

A friend of mine just had his front wheels balanced on his RT. His comment was WOW and the wheels were really out of balanced. Taking his experience, I too, did the same thing on my RT. Not so bad but it needed adjustment. I guess, it does not hurt to have this done since it was not expensive. Next move, 4 of us will take a trip to have laser alignment done.

Once you get the front end of the bike completed pointed in the right direction, and not shaking like a paint-mixer: you'll be surprised at how much better the bike will feel out on the highway! nojoke

New front shoes

Had new front tires installed today unfortunately dealer was unable to get tires balanced 100%. Will be taking wheels to Al's hub cap tire & wheel in Mineola Long Island to have them Roadforce balanced. Al is also a spyder owner as well as a spyderlovers member. I'll post back how everything goes. Al's handle is Spectacular Spiderman.

Update:

Tech at Al's Hub Cap Tire & Wheel removed the dealer installed glass beads he remounted tires on rims and proceeded to Roadforce Balance the tires. One tire was well within specs and needed no weights once it was properly positioned on rim. The second tire was way out of specs and was determined to be bad tire. So, had to pray local dealer would have tire in stock as most downstate NY dealers barely carry any parts for our machines. Got lucky!
One dealer had a tire in stock. Don't our machines have two font tires? Why would a dealer only carry one? Anyway, after picking up second new tire and having it Roadforce balanced this one also had issues but at least tech was able to position it on the rim to bring it with in acceptable specs and only needed Half an once weight and NO Glass beads in tires. My observation, it would seem quality control at Kenda needs some improvement or BRP needs a new source for tires. Took test ride 67mph no noticeable vibrations had to keep ride short as it was starting to rain. I do feel glass beads are unnecessary if tires are Roadforce balanced by a knowledgeable technician & reputable tire shop. Most dealers aren't equipped to mount and balance tires for our spyders and so must resort to using glass beads or what ever else can be added to the inside of the tire. This in my view is unacceptable given the price we all paid for these rather unique machines. Thumbs up for Roadforce Balance & Al's Hub Cap Tire & Wheel in Mineola, NY.

Are you coming to Kalamazoo for the alignment by chance???

Dyna Beads

Has anyone tried Dyna Beads in their tires for balancing?? I've heard both pros & cons to using these.

Sorry, just did a search & saw people have. Has anyone had any bad experience with dyna beads or any other dynamic balancing agent??

I have been using Dyna beads in my 2 wheeler from the start. On my 3rd set of tires and 47k odo. And have had it up to 140+ mph and never an issue. The next time I replace the Spyder tire I will use Ride On. Has the same balancing but with puncture protectant.

Don't want to derail this thread but after reading alot of threads here and elsewhere I just put Ride-On in all my tires. On the balancing side I liked the idea of dynamic balance at ALL speeds, not a slow speed dealers do or just a high speed at a good shop. Not sure I have a real opinion on it in practice yet.

worse with ride-on

Had tires rebalanced on new 2015 st and still had slight vibration at certain speeds. Put ride-on in tires and now even after 50 miles it shakes so bad i can hardly hold on to handlebars. Suggestions?

Factory tire was way out of balance

2015 RTL, had a vibration at 55-65 MPH. Left front wheel had 12 weight from the factory. Dealer had to replace left tire to get balanced. Ride is much smoother with no vibration. Thank you Tampa Powersports

Very odd. How much and of which kind of Ride-On did you use?
