Balancing Spyder Rear Tire & Wheel Assy.

Hi Folks,

I want to try the Kumho Ecsta tire on the rear of my Spyder RT and was wondering if conventional automotive tire balancing machines will accept the Spyder's rear wheel? Since my dealer’s warranty service so far has been questionable at best, I’d prefer not to pay him to do anything on my ride. Has anyone had a Discount Tire or Belle Tire spin balance their Spyder’s tires for them, or does the Can Am Dealer utilize special adaptors or equipment?

Thanks in advance, Scott

The wheel is way to wide for auto balancers. A dealer is Sioux Falls is where I am going to go to have my new tire installed. They have the equipment. However, they said they have had better luck with the glass beads. That is what we are going to do . I hope it works.

I don't know about the width as there are many car tires wider than ours (these are car tires!)...Recently changed mine out using a neighbors machines. We couldn't balance on the high speed because of the way our rim attaches as opposed to an automobiles. I put on a Toyo and used Ride-On. Got the usual roughness for the first few miles as the goo spread itself around and it's been smooth as glass after that.

don't take the Spyders rims to a car place. the equipment to work on the rim, wether balancing or replacing the rubber, is too strong for the Spyders rims.

I put ride-on in my rear rather than spin balancing. Works great. I cannot recommend it for the fronts though.

Using ride on in second rear. Both sets of fronts had it also. Only problem was the the original fronts were so mis-balanced, even ride on couldn't fit it. Took the weights off and ride-on alone was almost ok. got the fronts spin balanced when warm, everything perfect. The second balance used only a few weights, the dealer figured the tires are actually quite different in weight and the ride on couldn,t quite do it by itself. In colder WX, it might take a mile at 50 for the ride on to do the job at higher speeds, no problem at all at lower speeds.

Real easy one, forget the wheel weights! I use Ride On in my tires, took the weights off and it rides very smooth. I even have it in my Dodge truck tires.
