Baker Air Wings Review

I finally decided to take the plunge and give the Baker Airwings a whirl on our 13RT Limited. I've never been crazy about the look of the Baker's, but I think it was just in my head more than anything. They arrived yesterday and I installed them last night. Took all of 15 minutes to install them both. Very simple and straight forward.

Our bike really hasn't had the heat issues that some seem to have. I think sometimes we forget we are sitting on top of an engine and it's going to get warm at times. Shouldn't be blazing hot but I have always expected it to be warm. Just think how hot you'd be sitting on the hood of your car when it's been running?

So today I got home and jumped on the bike and wanted to give them a road test. It was a windy afternoon but I hit the four lane highway running 75mph and I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised how much I like them. They really buffered the wind off me and it really allows you to direct the wind exactly where you want it. I even got caught in some stop and go traffic and could easily open them up allowing more air to pass through.

Since it was only in the mid 70's today I cannot wait until it really warms up to see how much more I like them. I can see a huge benefit in the rain as well. I am betting my wife is really going to see a benefit as the co-rider as well.

If you have been on the fence about possibly using these I encourage you to give them a chance and see what you think.

Did they stay put where you opened them to? Easy to move in and out? :thumbup: Thanks, Tom. :trike:

We just did 176 miles with new wings. One side stayed put, had some probs with the other side, but it was just a error on my part. Tightened up to bolts/nuts on the loose side and they worked great. Can direct the air at me or my passenger.

yes sir they stayed put when I opened them up. you can easily move them while driving. just reach down and turn whatever way you desire. :thumbup:

I've had mine for about a year and a half...never a regret. Close them when it's cold or raining. Open them for air circulation when it's hot! Great investment!

They're also good at keeping those side panels from blowing off.

These were one of the best after market additions I have done. When cold I close them all up and my legs stay nice and warm and when it gets warm I have several options for directing the air flow. Love 'em!

Baker Wings

I have used the Baker wings on 4 motorcycles and on my Spyder I must say they are not
the best looking item on the machine BUT they work and they work well, you can adjust the
tightness of the screws so they will not move while underway and easy to adjust while riding
I give them a Dave's :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: 5 thumbs UP

So I took the wife out for a ride today. I had the Baker's closed off and had been riding about 15 minutes. I asked her if she could feel any difference? She said No, not really. So I opened the wings and continued driving for about 30 minutes.

Once we reached a stoping point she asked me if I could if I would close the Baker's off. She said I really had no idea just how much wind was coming back here until you opened them up. How in the heck did we ever ride without these she asked!

So, I'd say we have a winner and its wife approved!!!

One other benefit I have noticed today was we have an Ultimate Seat with the external gas opening. Now from time to time that metal tends to get warm on the left leg. Especially if I have been riding and get off the bike just for a few minutes and then jump back on. I opened up just the top wing and in less than one minute that disappeared. :thumbup:

Here are pictures of mine.

Here are pictures of my Baker Built Air Wings. I like them a lot!

Wife hated wind as a passenger on my Goldwing. Don't have a Spyder yet, but can I assume the Baker's are more effective at blocking wind on the passenger than the BRP Adjustable Side Wings?

I certainly hope so because the BRP side wings aren't worth "jack" in my opinion. I've heard a lot of good reviews about the Bakers. I have the BRP and I'm sorry I spend money to buy them.

Got my wings at Spyderfest this year! After a 650 mile 11 hour ride home in 50 deg weather I truely feel in love! Then took my wife for a ride and she also was in love. Not to metion the F4 (wider and taller) shield I put on just for her. Now the only problem is finding a sitter for the kids ALL the time for ust to ride. It has become OUR stress relief.

THANKS BAKER AIR WINGS :bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

It doesn't look like it does.

From your picture, it doesn't seem that highway pegs will work with the bottom wings on? Is that right?

I've never looked into getting highway pegs so I don't know. I'm sure others who know will say something.

foot pegs and air wings

The Air wings will work with most foot pegs but not all. Check photos of leg wings installed than compare with your foot peg locations.

Thank You
