• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Baker Air Wings for RT

So I just installed a set of Baker Air Wings on my 2013 RTL. I have 2 concerns... 1) Not sure I like the looks of them against the lines of the bike... Kinda my own issue.. 2) once installed, it becomes a royal pain to take of the side panel to check the oil. You have to take out the upper bolt of the airwing. Anyone come up with a better way. I might just take these things back off the bike

That’s why people are different. If we were the same, one of us wouldn’t be necessary.

I've had mine since the first week I've owned my Spyder and I love them. I have the lowers, too and I have to remove two bolts to check my oil but you get used to it.

I have since removed them to put them on my '14 as soon as I take delivery.

the new inner panel that goes with the air wings on my 2014 RT-L. Now I can have a little heat in the winter to go along with cool in the summer. Have unlimited adjustment to get the air just where I want it.

Take care all.
I found that the inner panels didn't work too good because of the way the BRP deflectors directed the air. Put on the BRP adjustable deflectors and now have great air control.

Ok so the only thing i did not like about the Baker wings is when you have to check the oil in the bike now you need a wrench
so i took a 1/4 x 20 stainless steel bolt and wing nut turned down the bolt on the lathe so now no tools needed to check the oil

With a nut driver it takes an additional 2 or 3 minutes to pull the deflector And another couple minutes to reinstall. I also went with the clear ones and they don't seem to be as noticeable as the smoked or color ones

Just as a PS, we had the Baker Air Wings on for about the first half of our 16000 mile ride this summer. They did great but we were still hot, especially in the Mojave. While at the Owners Event in Durango I picked up a set of BRPs adjustable wings as well. My wife and I both felt that the BRP ones, while not adequate by themselves, did get air moving in areas that the Baker ones did not, so I recommend that both be used.

Good point...
This does not have to be an, "either-or" decision.
Why not use both; if your riding conditions warrant it?

Unfortunately the BRP's do next to nothing, I have used them on two bikes now. I have been looking at a method to duct cool air from the high pressure area in front but the 14's are much more of challenge. We only get a week or two of hot weather so the BRP's set up helps a little for now.

I feel the same way... think I will get the BRP's...

A thought just occurred to me. The reason I installed the Baker Built air wings on my '10 RT-L-S was to help eliminate the dreaded right hot foot which they did. Along with the Spyderpops block off plate. I may not need them on the '14 RT-Ltd as the heat problem is supposed to be a nonissue. I'll have to get some saddle time before I decide.

one advantage of using the wings are you will never lose your side panel again. it is impossible for it to blow off when you use the wings
I like this fact. I have had them almost since I got the 2010RT. I ride in cold as well, sure helps
