BajaRon's Sway Bar Installed

Hi All, Well I got my Bajaron's sway bar yesterday and on a nice fall day in Michigan installed it in about 2 1/2 hrs . It really is not that hard to do, the biggest problem is getting all the panels off. I put the :spyder2: up on ramps and got all the required panels off ( this really took the most time cause this the first time for doing this). Used a floor jack to get the :spyder2: up high enough to get the OEM sway bar out and put Bajarons sway bar in. The one nice thing was while I had the panels where off I checked out the areas I could see. I found several things wrong :sour:, just small things, the type of stuff that could be missed during assembly or 600 mile check. I found a clamp not tightened, some missing spring clip thingies, and a clip not set. So it was worth doing this.

Tested the instalation and and was I impressed  :yes:. I'm 6'6" and weigh 245 and noticed the sway during my rides. I figured I was not at the midpoint of the bell curve for the design of the front end and needed to correct the problem. My :spyder2: is a 2013 RT-S and does not have shocks that I could adjust :( . This sway bar has made a great improvement in the handling. I'm looking forward to doing a longer ride.

Good news..!!

really glad things worked out so well. You will have fun with your ryde now but beware you will get used to it and may be looking for the next upgrade in the handling arena..enjoy your new handling ryde..:ohyea:

Congratulations. I too put one on my 2013 RT-S after just the first 300 miles. The installation was easy and the results were noticeable. Did you replace the OEM heim joints with Ron's chromoly links? I didn't at first and ended snapping the OEM link just a few days afterwards.

This is the truth!!! I was very happy with the sway bar, then got used to it, and now I'm looking at the Elka suspension.

I did check

Ron list the list the OEM Heim Joints that may be used without replacement. I had a 3 on the ones I have so I was ok. If you are going to replace the sway bar this is a key thing to check.
I`m going to use the new sway bar for awhile before looking into replacing shocks. I have looked at the after market shocks and they are not cheap.

Hi everyone -

I have a new RTS (circuit yellow of course;) ) I have ordered out and am expecting the beefier BajaRon sway bar today or tomorrow. My dealer, who is a gem and I trust, is nudging to changing to ELKA 1+R's at the same time as first check. (I am planning on doing this at that 600 mile check - as well as check the notorious alignment issue).

I cannot find anything on the comparative benefit of the ELKA's over the 2013 shocks. Supposedly the 2013 shocks are a vast improvement over the previous years' shocks which were so bad they mandated better shocks.

I did see a thread from ELKA on testing the 2013's vs developing a new product for 2013's. the thread seems incomplete. Given that the RT is 'tuned' as a touring machine not a 'road burner' a somewhat softer shock is IMO okay. I drive a Corvette with the Z-51 package which is an alternative to (midway between) the base model (softer but very capable) and the Z-06 (stiff swaybar and shocks) where ride quality is adversely affected.

Since sway bar controls how much lean and shocks control rate do the oem shocks do a 'good enough' job of rate control for a touring machine? - for those of you who have installed the sway bar and not shocks is the handling now equal to a decent touring machine?

I am sure this conversation will get livelier as people get more experience. Comments everyone.

Thanks

Trust your dealer: put on Elka Stage 1+ shocks same time as BajaRon Bar

Elka's are awesome control compared to stock shocks. I have stage 5 Elkas' front, stage 1+ rear since 2011 Spyder RT; transfered them to 2013 Spyder RT-S.
Ask dealer to put in grade 8 hardened lower rear shock bolt, (stock lower shock bolt bends).
I don't have BajaRon bar. Jim

It has worked for me. the ron bar with OEM shocks has been just fine. Not too soft not to hard tot to much lean, but just right. now there were some defective shock on a few 2013s but not mine.
