There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Baja Ron sway bar swap

My wife has a 2017 F3S that we just put a Baja Ron Sway bar and links on. She is trading it in for a 2018 F3 Limited. Will the sway bar swap over? The dealership says that the bolts are different and there might be extra charges for the bolts and hardware?

Hi John
The only differences is the bolt that attaches the sway bar to the Hiem link because the Sway bar Is thicker than stock it needs one longer bolt on each side. When you purchace the sway bar and links the longer bolt is included, as well as the neoprene bushing blocks that are made for the thicker bar. They should be on the older spyder already. The kit also included the bushing blocks. Swapping them out should not require any additional hardware. Just put all the new stock hardware on the older Spyder.
The Baja Ron hardware is much better quality than stock. My only complaint is the longer bolts are not painted black.
That being said, I have seen installations where they used the stock black bolts even though they are a tad short. Doing it with a bolt that is too short can be dangerous because the nut is just barely hanging on given that the locking part of the nut is on the outside edge. Chad at Texas Adventure Powersports has done this before for a small fee.

This is assuming that what is on your wife's spyder is a genuine Baja Ron Sway bar. One dealer I will not name here tells the customers that they have installed a Baja Ron Sway bar when in actuality they installed a RT sway bar that they adapted for an F3. Doing this they drill out the stock plastic bushings to make it fit.

Here is the truth about this...

As AY4B states. Just move everything over. You will need ZERO additional parts. Sounds like someone is trying to pad the bill.

So, you want black bolts? I'll look into this when I get some time. But the way things are going, it could be years ....

Sad but true.... If the results were comparable it wouldn't be so bad. Or, if the seller where honest about what the customer was getting, that would be OK too. It stems from people thinking that bar diameter is the only criteria by which to gauge what a sway bar will accomplish.

But I'm not the only one. There are instances where customers are told they are getting a ROLO laser alignment, and they don't even have the equipment.

You just have to be careful if you want to get what you are paying for. Thankfully, most are honest.

Ron, Traded it in yesterday. What the shop showed me was that the 2018 limited had different mounting hardware (they based this upon part numbers) they said that when BRP changed part numbers it usually ment a difference in sizes, etc. They said they would attempt to do it but if it did not fit correctly that it would still cost me 260 in labor for the swap. They said that if they had to buy the new hardware for the 2018 then it would be around 200. My wife and I decided that it would just be easier to just buy a new set from you and have it installed at another shop like we did with the last one a month ago.

I cant say the service department was padding a bill but the prices made me take a second look. Either way my wife absolutely loves the difference your sway bar and links made on her F3S from the first ride after the install. So we will be installing another on on her new F3 Limited.

I would say you made the right choice. Sounds like they just didn't want to do the swap. They could have told you anything after the fact and charged you for nothing. Sorry that they treated you this way.
