Two deaths and serious injury. First death was a 27 year member of the Southern Pines NC police dept. Officer Stanley Klingenschmidt was leading a ride for Special Olympics NC when he lost control of his motorcycle on a curve and went down an embankment. Wral.com has the story.
Second death was a young GI stationed at Ft. Bragg NC. He lost control of his Yamaha motorcycle on a city street. He hit a curb and a parked car.
The serious injury was a Major from Seymour Johnson AFB., the base I retired from. She and her 1st Sgt. were riding in Fayetteville, NC. Apparently, while at a stop sign, her clutch lever slipped out of her hand and she bolted into oncoming traffic and hit a car head on. She has a head injury, several broken bones a crushed pelvis and a crushed C2 vertabra. She was airlifted to UNC hospital.
Asking for prayers for the families and for the recovery of the Major.
