• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Bad vibrations

This started about 200 miles ago. 2011 RT-S with 2000 miles. When riding at speed (65 -70 mph) with cruise control everything is fine nice and smooth. Then I come to a small rise or hill and the engine needs to accelerate to hold the speed. The vibrations start at the same time. Not major but you feel them at the foot pegs to the handle bars. Spoke to dealer. They said it is normal. Spoke to a riding buddy and his 2010 RT does the same thing and was also told this is normal. I do not remember this feeling in the past. Once the spyder is back on level ground or moving down the hill the vibration stop as quickly as they started. Get to the next hill and it happens again. Tried it without cruise and the same thing happens, vibrations begin when accelerating slowly in 5th. Do not notice it in lower gears. Tried to accelerate in 5th from 50 mph and something is shaking but not near as bad as above 65. Any suggestions? Is this normal or should I put more pressure on dealer? I was reading about motor mounts, could that be causing my problems? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Just because it is common, doesn't make it right. If it is different than when new, and it bothers you, lean on the dealer. He should check the clearance of the engine block to the frame. BRP can instruct him in the troubleshooting procedure and the cure.

My 2011 has deteriorated in the same way. I will probably shim the motor mounts before next summer.

One of the things that causes vibrations is a belt that is not properly tightened. That happens when you are negotiating a hill climb. That is normal, and even with the belt properly tightened the length of the belt will still allow for some flapping (vibrations).

If you are putting load on the engine at 50 mph in 5th gear you are lugging it with the engine speed too low. You need to be in 4th gear or lower. That may not help your vibration problem but it will sure be better for your engine.

Agree with all the above. Keep the rev's up and it will smooth things out and be better for the engine. However, your pulling hard at low rev's may have uncovered a motor mount clearance problem. Simple procedure for the dealer to check the clearance and pass judgement on it. Also agree belt tension is critical. I can tell when the belt is loose (still within spec) by the vibration patterns. Dealer recommended keeping it between 500 and 550 on the RT and it is smooth as silk. Well, almost. Spec is 300-600 and when down in the 300's, I get noticeably more vibration. Simple to check as well.

check

check for dirt buildup inbetween every tooth on sprockets front and rear, check belt line up, it might be rubbing hard on inside flange , and check belt tightness. i had same problem on my 2012 rt i cleaned out every sprocket grove they all had some dirt packed in there and lined belt up and tightened it now she runs nice and smooth again, and after i seen all the garbage packed in the sprokets i made a belt guard now the rear wheel cannot throw its garbage in the belt
