There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Bad Timing!

Well, now ... spydercowboy's (aka hogcowboy) bone graft surgery is scheduled for tomorrow and what do I do yesterday? Manage to get my left hand crushed between some round stock and a cattle chute while we were working cows (breeder was here to AI)! Fortunately (?) I am strongly right handed and X-rays showed no obvious broken bones -- will know more when radiologist does his read. So, now that I really need my full strength and BOTH hands to help with Larry's recovery (he's off his feet for at least 8 weeks), I have a left hand that looks REAL pretty! GRRRRRR .... "best laid plans ....."!

Sigh, sorry folks, just needed to vent a little bit ... keep us in your prayers. Thanks ... Ann

whats that saying..... something about when it rains it pours ......

Your strong & have each other & the Full Support of your Extended SpyderLovers Family as well ;) So you know we'll be praying for the both of you :pray: And Teddy in his infinite wisdom is Famous for saying .........

Sad news..!!

Really hope the hand has nothing broken or fractured and will heal quickly. Sure is bad timing but then you didn't time this at all...good luck..

We are a Spyder family, so vent anytime you feel the need. I'm glad it isn't any worse. Your family is in my prayers.

At least it will only cost you all some time; Please heal quickly and know that we are all thinking of you both! :2thumbs: :pray:

Thanks

Thank you for all the kind words, thoughts, and prayers. Surgery today ... we are both looking forward to the outcome, knowing that it's going to take some time and patience.

Y'all are the best! Ann

Status -- Surgery and My Hand

Yesterday's surgery (bone graft for ankle shattered in January 2012) for spydercowboy (aka hogcowboy) went well ... but took nearly 6 hours as so much of the old hardware was broken and had to be removed. Hubby is doing EXCELLENT today ... was up in a wheel chair twice today and rolled down the hall and then back to the room (with assistance from physical therapy to make sure he transfers safely from bed to chair and back). Doc came in to check on him at about noon ... discharging tomorrow -- YAY!:yes: Now the hard part begins -- all the work necessary to keep weight off the right leg for at least 8 weeks and not totally loose all muscle tone for the rest of his body in the process.

As for my hand ..... a pic shows it pretty well (warning, GRAPHIC content ... don't look if you are at all squeamish). It looks MUCH worse than it feels! Hard to believe nothing was broken when it got crushed -- I am SO lucky! nojoke You can't really see the swelling in this pic (it is pretty "fat"); seems to be getting more colorful each day.

Progress and Thanks

Once again ... thank you all for your kind words, thoughts, and :pray:! Spydercowboy (aka hogcowboy, aka Larry) came home from the hospital Friday morning  ... pretty amazing after a 6 hour surgery just two days before! Friday evening and Saturday were pretty rough as it took a while to get oral pain meds balanced since they removed the pain pump about 2 hours before he left the hospital. Showering is an "interesting challenge" as no weight on right foot, and all dressings have to stay dry .... plus we have a pretty good lip to get over to get into the shower. Fortunately, we have a good transfer bench in the shower and I have found a floor to ceiling grab bar that should be in this week. Saw surgeon last week for dressing change, this week for x-ray and evaluation for either cast or boot (we are hoping for boot as it can be removed once sitting in the shower and put back on to get out of the shower ... cast would have to stay dry). All in all, I think Larry is doing very well ... considering what he has had done -- spends alot of time resting / sleeping, which will help with healing and recovery. We are fortunate to have insurance that covered the cost to rent a power chair so he can get outside and get some sun, roll around the yard, etc. Also have a rented wheel chair that stays in the car ... used when going to doctor and so on. So glad we have both or Larry would be house bound because of the rough terrain here at the ranch. nojoke

Last Monday (5/6/2013), my hand was so painful and colorful (the entire back of the hand, three of the fingers, and most of the thumb were a deep red / purple) that I actually had a friend give me a ride to another ER (actually Urgent Care Clinic) in a bigger town. A second set of x-rays and an MRI were done, mostly to rule out "compartment syndrome" .... confirm no broken bones, but a very large hematoma between the first and second knuckles of the palm. Mostly a dull ache, until I try to use it and then I'm reminded!:yikes: Saw my primary care doctor today and have been referred to an orthopedic specialist ... hoping to limit scar tissue as the hematoma heals and looking for a non-surgical solution (PT with deep tissue massage, maybe).

Anyway ... thanks again for "listening!" Spyder (Miss Pearl) and Harley (Miss Piggy) miss us, for sure. They are under cover, with full tanks, and battery tenders on them -- I am hoping to at least try a short ride (30 miles or so) this weekend if the weather is nice. Oh, and the PGR is having a "Burger Burn" fund raiser at the local Harley dealer this coming Saturday .... I asked Larry if he might want to get out and visit for a bit and he didn't say no! :D:D Maybe this weeks doctor visit will go well and not take too much out of him (it's about an hour drive one way) .... hoping the "Burger Burn" will raise his spirits a bit (if we do indeed attend .... hope so).

All the Best .... Ann
