• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Bad Key error fix?

Thought I had this fixed last summer but got stranded yesterday with the bad key error. Last year when it started it would reset after pulling out the key, walking away, standing on one leg with your right arm in just the right way etc...After three trips to the dealer Can Am finally authorized what I understood was replacing the receiver module after the issue got progressively worse and taking longer to reset.

does anyone know what the fix is so I don't get stranded again. I never had this issue with my last spyder nor has anyone I ride with.

:dontknow: My guess, is that you simply got another bad module... :banghead:
Report it immediately to your dealer, and let them know that this is no longer a fun issue to deal with! :gaah:
Tell them to pull the parts from a bike off the floor... (Let THEM do the waiting!)

Agree...

:agree: you need them to repace the module again. It may have been from the same faulty batch...hopefully all have been dumped and the good ones are left. :gaah:

It it is not fun anymore! I am planning on a long trip up in north Idaho where there are no dealers that will drop everything and send a trailer to rescue me like my dealer will down here. This is a BRP problem and I feel that it is time for BRP to step up and fix this once and for all.

If there is any good news to come out of this, it has shown me what a super dealer Birds of Prey in Caldwell Idaho is. I called and told them what happened and that I was stranded. All they needed to know was the address and sent a trailer to Boise and picked up my spyder. I wish BRP was half as good to their customers as Birds of Prey is.

Module Replacement

The Module Replacement is UNDER WARRANTY.

I started a thread" D.E.S.S. KEY CODE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" their is some excellent advice/and pictures on that thread that I posted. I also posted part #'s and some solutions for you to take to your Can-Am dealership. Keep us posted on what happens.

Take pictures of the Bad Key Error, and show them to your dealership. Also have your dealership OPEN UP A CASE WITH BRP.

BRP NEEDS TO GET THIS ISSUE FIXED.

Good Luck!

If you ever make it up this far let me know.....we have some great roads and lots of friendly people.

If need the module needs to be replaced, and if you have warranty on your spyder, it is covered under warranty.

Ask your can-am dealership to open up a case with BRP. Also get a case number just in case. If you get the D.E.S.S. error take pictures, show them to your dealership, do not back down.

I started a thread " D.E.S.S. KEY CODE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!! started by Deanna777, on that thread their is some excellent info. and some very helpful info. to take to your dealership.
