• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

BAD KEY DISPLAY

I have an '08 Spyder always ran fine, no problems. Headed home from the shop, put the key in turned it on, usual displays and the display finally said "bad key" and would not start. Tried disconnecting battery, walking away from it with the key, tried again, display says "bad key". Anybody ever heard of this with an OEM key? My brother has the spare and he is in Japan on vacation. Need help - any thoughts?

Could be a bad key or a bad security module. No way to easily tell without the spare key. Without a good spare key, the module will need to be replaced and the keys replaced/reprogrammed. If the module is bad, you would need to do that anyway.

bad key

never heard about this before, should we be bringing our spare key now as well ?? how many others out ther have had this experience ??:gaah:

I have only heard of a scant few incidents. Some were involved with merely losing the keys. If you are going very far from home, I would highhly recommend taking a spare key. (I would also recommend rigging up an emergency trunk release if you ride an RS...don't ask how I know.)

If going more than a few miles...

from home you should always carry a spare key:thumbup: for the vehicle you are driving at the time. Doing this has saved me from calling or walking a several of times. /Ken

Yes, you'll need to get it to the dealer (trailer it) and have new ones programmed, but would first have to have some in stock to do this. If they have any in stock, it should be a quick, but costly process.

Cheers and good luck and feel free to let us know the outcome.

If you don't have a good key to start with I think you're hosed. They need a good key to program a new key.
