There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Bad experience with Factory parts and with mechanic at Ohio Dealer

In June 2020, At 35,000 miles needed some brake work on '08 GS Semi Auto. Due to Covid, 2 local Spyder mechanics within 20 mile radius of my location were backed up til late August. So went 50 miles South to Dealer in Findlay Ohio, who took her in in Mid July. Months dragged on until late Sept when all the parts arrived. Diagnosed: Total brake job and clutch replacement to be done. Then the only Spyder tech was out for illness (Covid?). Finally picked up on 20 Nov. On drive home, 3 qts of oil leaked out Sent her back via auto club tow on 21st Saturday. Monday they promised no priority in checking her out. Not willing to wait 2-3 months again, I had auto club pick her up. I spoke to service writer who agreed with me that his mechanic didn't check it for leaks after oil change, he agreed to tossing a "free" gallon of Spyder juice in the trunk. I crawled under and found the drain plug and the engine filter cover were leaking on my floor & NOT TORQUED correctly, just finger tight. 10 minutes later, 3 bolts tightened/no leaks & a half hour more putting all the "Tupperware" back on:thumbup:. Road for several days checking fluids at every stop. l called the Service Writer back and told him politely that his mechanic needed a class in oil change 101:mad::mad:. Never will go back.:mad::mad:

Hi Bill,
This is exactly why MANY of us do our own maintenance and those here who couldn't before have learned that most of the general maintenance is not" rocket surgery."

Oh------- and " May the Force be with you" nojoke

" needed some brake work " at 35,000 mi . = " total brake job and NEW CLUTCH " ......:gaah: ... imho you got fleeced .... sorry, Mike

I usually change the oil myself. Brake system worn out thought it needed new brake fluid, but after 35k miles the rotors & pads needed replacing and the CanAm computer needed to bleed brakes, get notice of brake failure off dashboard. They also said clutch was shot and had to drain my oil to get that done. All but oil change above my pay grade.

I though so also, but I was an hour away, not easy to second guess/2nd Opinion the work. First major problem in 12 years/ 35k miles. cutting up bill in my mind by 12, not bad from that point of view.

On my 14 RT the rear pads were still ok at 30,000 but were VERY worn so they got changed .... my fronts went till 45,000 miles  ..... I still have concerns about " clutch failure " @ 35,000 mi. .... I have had bad experiences with dealers so I don't trust any of them .... hope things work out ..... Mike

He has an SE5. If he ran the engine at slow speeds a lot, that could cause slipping and excess wear on the clutch. Remember back before the 1330 all the discussion about making sure you run the engine above 4000 (?). At least I think that could be the case.

Obi, did the dealer say anything about how much you ran the engine at what speed ranges? That's one of the bits of data that the BUDS shows.

" IF " ... :dontknow: ... maybe Obi will add this info - I hope so ....... That info about shift points is still in His Spyders computer ( this is FACT not assumption ) ... maybe another dealer can / will retrieve it , to settle How / Why the clutech need re-placing ...... Mike

got no feedback from dealer, except his bill. Then when I pointed out that the oil filter cover & drain plug weren't torqued, he gave me a gallon of "Free" replacement oil.

good idea, except it would take 6 weeks to get an appt to take her in and $$ for hooking up the computer. As is I had to get a low interest loan from credit union to pay the Findley Ohio bill. On 'socialist insecurity' and now tapped out for a while on extra $$.
