• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Bad engine bearing

My 2008 RS with 22,000 miles started to have an oil leak around the front drive belt pulley. After removing the front drive belt pulley it was determined that the bearing is bad thus allowing the pulley to wobble. I was wonder is anyone else has had similar problems. Looks like it is going to be very expensive to fix as the engine must be removed and the case split to get to the bearing. Seems like you should not have a bearing going out on an engine with 22,000 miles.

My understanding is incorrect belt tension is what causes early bearing failure. That's what I have read anyway.

Sorry to hear of your problem. They say that is expensive to fix :banghead:

Bummer..!!

Though we have seen others. If adjustments were maintained could get in touch with brp or have the dealer talk to them. Some were covered don't remember the circumstances..sorry:dontknow:

As was said, high drive belt tensions have caused drive spocket, shaft, and/or bearing failures. The spec has been reduced at least twice since the Spyder was introduced, and the proper spec was included in a service bulletin. A lot of owners do not get regular dealer maintenance, however, and some dealers did not see notice the spec change right away, so there have been a bumber of belt tension related issues.
