• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

If you have a backrest do always us it all the time and do you like it. I have a RT and I'm thinking of upgrade to a new seat with a backrest. What are the pros and cons?

RT with backrest

A backrest is definitely a plus to have on your RT. You can relax better on a long ride and have support for your lower back. If you don't want to buy a new seat just to have a backrest, look at Utopia. Their backrest looks like it was made by BRP for the spyder. The stitching design is the same.

Thumbs up for a backrest!

Adding highway pegs & the Utopia= Barco-Lounger on Wheels

We've got 30,000 miles with our Utopia & LOVE IT :firstplace:

The Utopia back rest is without a doubt the best money I've ever spent. It eliminated the pain I would get in my shoulders on every longer ryde. It just feels good when you hit the throttle and feel the back rest supporting you. I can't understand whey it isn't standard equipment, it is a touring bike, isn't it? I guess there are folks that don't like back rest but I can't imagine ryding without one.

The Utopia backrest is great. I know there is an option for a quick release, I got the fixed design. Why would you remove it? -unless you had a large passenger

I had a Utopia backrest on my Goldwing. It was great.I am holding off buying one until Sept as I've had the RT for 4 weeks now and seem to be doing ok with the Stock seat In Sept I will be in Daytona for a few days and will make a decision then wether to get an Ultimate seat with a backrest or keep the stock seat and get the Utopia.

The ONLY thing that's keeping an order to Utopia from leaving my "puter, is that me, The Missus, and Tink wouldn't have enough room... She'd be sputtering every time I removed it.
:lecturef_smilie: "Why'd you order that thing if you can't use it?"

If you're comfortable on the BRP saddle, but feel a backrest would give you needed support, there's no question about Utopia being the way to go. No question.

If, on the other hand, you're uncomfortable on the BRP saddle, you may be better off looking at after market saddles, but you'll spend a mint and not know if it was money well spent until after you get it and use it.

If you have an aversion to spending risk like I do, go with the Utopia.
