• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Back to Service dept.

Glad you are back on the road again!

You need to ask Will if he will split his commission on your sales. :D

:agree:

Tom, When I bought my boat in 2004. I had the only one in the area like it. They were having a hard time getting another in from the builder and the dealer would call me and ask if it was alright, if they sent people over to checkout mine. After 4 or more people checked out my boat, I called Rich the owner and asked how much of your commission am I going to get? I could here laughing in the back ground and he said free service for life.

I do believe that with all the question us owners are asked about the Spyder, we should all get a commission. Everyone I talk to asks where the dealership is? The guy with the Harley said it's on 231 at the Sea-Doo dealership.

I just got back from a ride to Pier Park at the west end of the beach. I live on the east end and it was warm and sunny. Half way there it started to rain and I had a smile on my face. I came out of this store and 2 girls and a guy were standing in the rain looking at it. They to asked about it and getting out of the rain, I answered all there questions telling them also where the dealership was. The two girls were very interested and said they were heading that way now.

Great idea about asking for commissions, since we are the ambassador's for the Spyder's.:thumbup:

Those are some great stories. Glad to hear they got you back on the road quickly. Keep on having fun out there.

Just got a call from Leo the service manager at my Spyder dealership. He wanted to know how its running now and I told him it's great but, am experiencing some surging and he said next time your in the area, which might be Thursday (Tomorrow), weather permitting, I'll take it in for them to check it out. I know that was part of the reason for the 2nd update and might need a new part, although BUDS showed everything was working fine.

I also asked him about rinsing down the engine, when I wash it once or twice a week and he said they have a spray that is used on Sea-Doo's that they recommend. Living where I do, about a 1000' from the Gulf of Mexico, it wouldn't hurt it and will get some to keep the corrosion down on external parts.

If it is surging between 3,000 and 4,000 RPM, then it sounds just like what mine was doing after the first update was applied. The Engine Optimization Bulletin from October corrected my issues. Best of luck with yours.

update2update2update

A question for fellow spyders. Anyone know exactly how many updates there are or have been ? have a 2008 sm and have had one and kinda a dealer mod ?? also looking for info on what is the latest you can buy the best warranty. I live in Canada. Looking for info/answers:yes:

SpyderWolf, yeah its between 3000 and 4000 rpm, that I get the surging and relate that to the service manager. I had that once before and took it in for the update after Christmas. The first update did absolutely nothing as it was still hard to steer and the only thing that came out of that update was it picked the bad DPS unit. Which I'm happy to say was replaced and working great now.

Talking to the Spyder tech Monday, he said they only had to replace one other DPS unit after mine. He also said mine was the only one that had the scroll, Check DPS and now know not to send the owner on his way. The lockup, will always be in the back of my mind and now know if I ever feel anything different in its handling, I'll take it right in.

SPYDERGUY1, I checked and there are 3 updates out now as for warranty's, there was a post on the best warranty's out and its most likely on one of the other pages now. I believe the poster was HDXBONES who was looking for the best company out there. It's something I'm gonna have to look into, within the next year. I to have an '08 SM5 and that I bought in March of last year and as long as its still under warranty now, you can still purchase and extended one. I don't think a warranty company cares what country you live in as long as they get your $$$$

Hopefully they will get the surging issue sorted out quickly for you. My Spyder ran much better, and was a whole lot more fun to ryde after they applied the fix for the surge. :)

Spyderguy, if you bought yours new in Canada in 2008, then you've got a THREE year warranty. This was done to appease complaints of the Canadian vs. U.S. price differences for Spyders.

Thanks , spyryder, guess will have to got to the dealer and hover over the salesman till I get some concrete answers. Hopefully can share with all. Still waiting for spring.:2thumbs:

It should say so on your customer purchase order. I bought mine in May of '08 from Martin Motorsports in Edmonton. Is that where you got yours?

I didn't take it in Thursday, it never made it out of the 30s til mid afternoon and was cold and raw all day. I had an appointment at 9 am a few blocks from the dealer and stopped in to talk to Leo. He said the next time its fairly nice, bring it in and I'll take it for a ride and than will go from there. He said a lot of times in your area where the speed limit is just 45 mph, you need to get it up on the highway more and bring it up to 65 to 70 mph. That alone corrects a lot of problems cranking up those rpms.

I told him, I do that now when some other rider laughs and points saying look at this scooter? Many are believers but, there are a few that need to be shown whats hidden beneath those panels, is nothing to laugh at. Most I think are just jealous cause the Spyder gets more attention than the Ho-Hum chromed out machines.:roflblack:

While talking to Leo, I asked about the Anti-Corrosive Lubricant. I bought a can and its called XP-S. Its good for salt water and high humidity environments and can be used on Ski-doo, Lynx, Sea-Doo, Rotax and Can Am's. If it ever stops raining, I'll give it a try on parts that have surface rust. It removes moisture and is great for drying out ignitions, loosens rusted on nuts and bolts. I won't use it on the engine, brakes or pipes, since they get hot and who needs a fire and can't stop?:yikes: Not me.:D

I use Corrosion-X at work all of the time. Its a great product and when the engine cools down, you can spray it everywhere. Here is a link.

I'm not as close to the Gulf as you, but close enough that I worry about the salt in the air.

Dave, thanks for the link and the information about using this product everywhere, including the engine. I also have guns and notice they too need a lot of attention and will use it on those also. Thinking about it I'll use it on everything that is exposed to this enviornment. I noticed on my friends chopper that he is getting a lot of pitting on his chrome and he lives in a condo on the beach. I'll have to tell him about this product. For him, its a constant job keeping his chrome clean and I'm glad I don't have that to deal with with the Spyder. I'd rather be ryding than polishing chrome.:2thumbs:

You might . . . . .
