There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Back Seat Rider feeling the BUMPS!

Hi All: this is our first summer on the 2014 RTS. We bought the spyder with 1000 miles on it. There must be a setting somewhere that doesn't make the rear rider feel ever bump and the bigger bumps are sort of painful ;-) I have been reading a lot of threads about adjustments, air, new shocks, etc. However, I want to make sure the suggestions are for a 2014 model. Can anyone enlighten me :-)

Thanks...

There should be a button on the dash for adjusting the shock (RT-S). The non-S model has a Schrader valve under the seat. Start with 50# or so. For two up, I like the adjustment one down from max hard. The spyder needs to be running at idle to make it work.

If it is not functional, then you most likely have a bad airbag or compressor.

Don't mean to disagree but my understanding is even with the Rt-S you have to set the pressure in the airbag with the Schrader valve. Then you fine tune the ride with the onboard compresser.

Read pg. 24-25, 57-59 of your operator's guide. FWIW, I leave my ACS Suspension on the firmest setting because I like a firm ride when solo and my wife is very comfortable when we're two up. Two up we are at 315 lb.

But you are... and you are wrong. You use the ACS system to set the ride height with the switch up in front of the rider.
The Schraeder valve is used for the non compressor equipped bikes.

No, on an RT-S you do not manually set the pressure; the ACS compressor does it all for you. The operator's guide addresses manually setting the pressure first because the base model does not have a compressor.

Wow, Bob you sound exactly like my wife!:D Guess this is why you should read your owners manual and not listen to a sales guy. :opps:

Pat

Hahaha....yeah TEWKS. Knowledgable Spyder sales guys are few and far between, unfortunately. ;):D

:D Sorry, Pat! I hope that I didn't cause you any "flash-back" episodes...
Truthfully: the Sales Guys should stick to telling you how GREAT you look on the bike... They don't know Jack about the actual technical specifications.

First off the stock shock is not doing it's job for the weight of two riders. You need a better rear shock. The air bag system if pumps up all the way will hide a bad rear shock. It is not designed to replace the rear shock. Fix the rear shock problem and the air bag will operate as designed.
