Back Rest

Has anyone put the BRP backrest on ( the one for the production seat)? It says for 2014 and prior
I have a 2012 RT and to me there is no way that back reast will go on my 2012,it does look like it will go
on 2014 with no problems.

I have it and I love it. The seats for the 2014 come with the mounting location already precut so you just snap it on. One warning is that it is not adjustable and you may not like the position. The seat for the 2014 will fit on the prior years so you can buy a new seat and backrest and put it on your older Spyder. I do not know if you can install it on your older seat though.

In order to use the BRP backrest on a model prior to 2014 you would also have to have the 2014 seat on your bike.

I instaled a Utopia backrest on my 2012 RTL and it is adjustable and works great. You can also get it to color match your standard seat also.

RE: Utopia has a new backrest that fits the 2014. There is a backrest for both the OEM seat and the Comfort seat. They are NOT compatible with each other. The Utopia is adjustable height wise and the seat back can be moved forward and back a bit. Cost is $249--so--IMO worth considering if you want a backrest.

I did install a Utopia on my 2010 when I first got it. That required cutting a hole through the OEM seat. Very nice, except I could not stand the "mushy" OEM seat.
